I'm planning to get my first car in the next month or two, so I've never had insurance before. How long does it actually take to "get" insurance?

I'll shop around and get quotes before hand to know who I'm going to go with. I just don't want to be the idiot who paid for his car but can't pick it up for a few days or something because I'm still waiting to get approval or something that I didn't know about. :blush

It's just done right over the phone or online? That's convenient. Thanks!

Getting insurance is pretty fast. I ordered my car ahead of time, then took my time getting the best quote and they usually can do it the same day and fax the proof to the dealership. Get the online quote and phone them to confirm everything and pay for it, and that's it.

Hey, did you end up finding insurance? Let me know if you still need a hookup...

Not yet, won't be getting a car for about a month or so.

What sucks is I can't use Kanetix or any online quote because I'm exchanging my BC's Class 5 for the G license, and I can't enter previous license information. :(

It'd probably be a better idea to call into the insurance companies and tell them that... maybe they can grant you some experience, make it a little cheaper. I dunno, just guessing on that one.

Yeah, that's what I meant, I'll have to call everyone to get quotes instead. :(

You can probably get an approximate quote, but you can't actually get insurance in Ontario until you have an Ontario driver's license. And yes they will ask for your BC license to get your insurance history their.
