powdercoat weaken rims ??

will powder coating my rims ,weaken them in anyway i have been told yes and no . any input ?

Are you sand blasting them first? and keep in mind powder coating makes your rims heavier ;) Not sure the total gain but could be 1-2 pounds per wheel.

There's an article that discusses that prolonged exposure at the required baking temp of 400 degrees F, at over 1hr, could weaken the molecular bond of the alloy. Most powdercoating places won't waste the time/energy to bake the clearcoat that long...at most 30 min...so unless your powdercoater falls asleep, it is unlikely the powdercoating/baking will weaken your wheel.
