For those who like to read:

the true waste is that a man died for those cars, and they just crushed them all...at least save me a set of the snowflakes!
This is old news yes, but a repost no. This is an excellent find. Its a shame that they destroyed the cars, they could have at least spend some time recycling them a little better. I'm sure that the cars that were in good shape were torn down for parts and were either stored as spare parts or given/sold to a scrap yard.

very interesting read for sure. Ya what a shame, but understandable. The sad part is for sure the loss of a human life.

A life has no price but 10 million dollars is a lot of money...I would take the risk for sure!!!
(Do you know how many mazda 3 you can get with that money!!! :hawt)

Mazda did the right thing. They didn't want to ruin their reputation which took a long time to build.

That's kinda sad.. but I understand why... the cost to disassemble, salvage, test/rebuild those parts would have been WAY beyond the price it just cost them to destroy them.
Also the risk that a part fails and a lawsuit ensues is way too high.
Oh well.. just a sad reality of business.
