Got my brand new Mazda3 on Friday and loving it! I had them install the iPod adapter, and when I went to try it out, nothing happens. I plugged it in, saw the mazda logo on my iPod screen (an 80 gb video iPod), pressed CD.....and all I got was the message "NO DISK". I'm supposed to see EX:1? I'm assuming the dealer didn't install it properly? I have a long road trip tomorrow and had SO hoped to listen to some tunes since I only have a ONE CD player in the car.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hope I'm just doing something wrong....

Try changing the audio selection on the steering control instead of pressing the CD button itself.

Sounds like the main power cable from the module needs to be disconnected then reconnected. It happened to me once and that's what I did to make it work again.

Thanks Flipdady. If I had a clue how to do that, I certainly would :blush
I've contacted my Mazda dealer and hope he has a simple solution other than bringing the car back.

its media button that you press, not cd..

Thanks xokx, I tried that too. The instructions say to push CD, but I've pushed every button I can find to no avail. Although the Mazda symbol is on my iPod screen, the audio simply won't recognize it. I've tried everything, resetting my iPod, turning audio off first, etc., but I guess it's back to the dealer for me.
Thanks for the help, though.

Yes, good point. I have the 2008.5 GS, and trust me I have pressed every button. My connection is in the glovebox, which is SO handy, if it actually worked.
Which iPod do you have? You're supposed to have at least iPod version 1.. If you have any other questions that my manual might help with let me know.

I have Ipod video 40gb previous version, so it should work no problem. I am reconnecting again right now and will try to reset my ipod. Also I need to figure out where CAN + and - go in information display connector. Mines are different color and not at the same place... Thanks for help

I know this is a long dead thread but did anyone find a solution for this problem? I picked up a new 2008.5 GT yesterday with a dealer installed ipod adapter and I'm seeing the same problem the OP described. When I plug in the ipod it connects and shows the mazda logo just fine but when I hit the media button all I see is AUX. I get the feeling the HU isn't connected to the adapter properly or doesn't recognize it.
I was just hoping there was a simple solution before I take it back to the dealer.

how about this for an idea. use the auxillary cable for the ipod. or any mp3 for that matter. and since there is a 12V power outlet where the auxillary is, go to canadian tire buy one of those inverters to plug into the power outlet. *chances are with your ipod you have the plug in. plug it into the inverter and there you go. thats how i have done it. then you dont spend the extra 200-300 on an ipod adaptor for your car.

Hey CJ...
Downtown Mazda FINALLY fixed my iPod problem - by ordering and installing a new radio. It took over 4 visits to get this rectified, but it seems to be working. I have yet to figure out HOW to play it efficiently (I was finally enjoying my iPod, turned the car off, did a little shopping, only to return to find that the iPod had somehow continued to play even though the system was off? ....sigh) but I'm sure it's just user error on my part, and once I sit down and try to figure it out....well, I'm hoping...:chuckle
Hope this helps CJ, but I think you'll have to bring it back in like I did....it pissed me off that what I paid for wasn't working, so I didn't give up 'til they got it right....ish....
