Saw the movie today and it was awesome as far as super-hero movies go. A real surprise hit. Robert Downey Jr was perfect for the role even though I hate most of his other work. Go out and see it if you haven't!
i saw the preview, its amazing. i just dont have time to watch that.

it started out really good. got a bit slow in the middle. had some really cool scenes though. the ending was meh, they tried to add a vilian but it kinda flopped in my eyes. long movie too, 2.5 hours i think

BTW, there is an extra scene after the credits. Fans of Marvel comics will love it.

Its kinda odd... Fury was white in some comics and black in some others...

Haha someone totally ruined the "surprise" oh well.
I saw the movie last night, and I think this is by far my favourite and the best of all the Marvel movies that have come out.
I didn't catch who the next villain was going to be though..did I miss something? (actually don't answer this question, it might ruin it for a lot of others).
I thought it was perfect for character development, and it sets up for an action packed sequel (which is why I think there wasn't much action, after all Stark is still learning about his new suit!).

The wife and I saw it over the week-end and for the most part enjoyed it because it was NOT like the typical comic based movie (i.e. Spiderman). The story was actually quite good and the acting for the most part was equally good.
It was a tad long but I never once found myself looking at my watch. I will say this though, I thought the 'bad guy' was kind of lame and the final fight wasn't anything too spectacular.
RDJ was especially good IMO.
Definately worth seeing if you haven't already.

saw this yesterday and overall thought it was pretty much 8/10
VERY good in that i think in its majority it stayed very true to the origin of iron man and doesn't try to "do too much".
i expected more action sequences but i'm glad they tried to keep it "realistic" to some degree in terms of showing the origin and i guess how it all comes together
i definitely expect the 2nd one to be better for a variety of reasons
more action
more suits
more villains
i suppose obadiah was not a GREAT final villain.. but he is really part of the story.... but i guess some of you would've preferred a total fast forward? haha

You can find the clip on YouTube. Someone filmed it with a camera.
LOVED IT!!!!
It was so well done. The womanizing was incredibly funny and obvious. The action and building of the suit as well as Tony Stark's character was just great a a whole along with the supporting actors and actresses.
The movie was about 80 - 90% true to the original comic.
I'm a huge Iron Man fan, it was my favorite comic, and is still my favorite super hero of all time. So I've got the old comics and I know the story fairly well. They stayed very true to the original. The one major differance was Iron Man's beginnings. The orginal story of his beginnings to place in Vietnam (china, asia). Mainly because the comic was developed when the Vietnam war was existant. So in this case the story was switched for our time to showcase the beginnings in the middle east. The rest was give an take with how he made his suit and all. Of course being set in current times for the movie they adapted Stark's character and the suit.
One funny little tidbit is that the original suit in the original comics was built to fit inside a suitcase that tony carried with him so he could change into Iron Man at any time. Looking at the suit in the movie, that would never happen :p
Another little interesting tidbit is the actual story line of Iron Man.
- Gets injurred, held hostage
- Makes suit
- Escapes
- Makes better suit
- Becomes super hero
- Suffers from Alcoholism
- The suit is given to Rhodes (african american (politically correct move)) who is in the movie as the army guy who's best friend's with tony.
- Tony goes to AA (not literally) and sobers up.
- Tony gets the suit back
- Tony builds a suit for Rhodes which deemed War Machine in the movie you'll notice that rhodes implies he wants to become War Machine when he sees the silver prototype suit near the end and says next time, can you say sequel?
FOR THOSE GOING TO WATCH THE MOVIE...
STAY TO THE END!!! ....at the end of the very last credits (the boring scrolling ones) there is a little short scene, I won't spoil it, but its worth the wait as its HUGE in terms of whats in store from Marvel and future movies.

There is a 3-movie deal in place for Iron Man before they get to the Avengers - IF they ever get there. They really have to keep making good movies and that isn't easy as is evidenced by Spider-Man.
Well they've already setup for "war machine" as for a third Iron Man movie, I don't think it's a good idea.
First movie first suit, second movie a new suit and war machine. Deal done.
Everything these days has to be a trilogy. There was only one trilogy, Star Wars.

You do know that there are six Star Wars movies, right? Even Lucas couldn't leave well enough alone. The only trilogies that have benefited from adding more films are Indiana Jones (I know the fourth isn't out yet but you know it's going to be great), Die Hard (part two was so brutal and part four somewhat redeemed the series) and possibly Lord of the Rings (though I'm not sure that the upcoming Hobbit movie is technically part of the same series).

No there are only 3 Star Wars movies. Episodes 1-3 don't exist. I have mentally blocked those monstrosities from my brain.
Yes I know this, BUT originally there were only three. Lucas just set himself up to make some serious mula for the future. Its like Episodes 1 - 3 were his retirement plan.
Although I'm incredibly excited for Indiana Jones, its only because Lucas got bored and figured, hell I'll need a new yacht to retire on so Harrison Ford can bring his new gold plated helicopter to land on so we can talk about how great the original movies were.

I have to say I was a little concerned.. but who better to play a womanizing alcoholic then Robert Downey Jr who is one in real life... so it was a perfect fit.... the movie was done very well the setup for war machine was pimp too.... the storyline followed the comics quite well... and the ending... wow... have to say im excited to see how the avengers movie goes
