Hello all,

Just been thinking about upgrading my 2008.5 stereo to JL Audio components. What does everyone think of this set up?

Fronts: C5-570 2-Way Component
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?comp_id=444

Rears: VR525-CXi Coaxials
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?comp_id=62

Sub: 10W3v3
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=24

Amp for fronts & rears: 300/4v2 Class A/B Four-Channel
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=437

Amp for sub: 250/1v2 Class D Monoblock
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=435

Think this is overkill?

It's certainly not overkill if you truly enjoy your music and don't mind spending the cash. I just finished selling an entire JL system out of our Mazda3 so I speak from experience. There are certainly area's you could change to save quite a bit of money while remaining with JL. Are you willing to buy used equipment, because you'll save considerably more going this route.

looks a lot like my setup, except for the front speakers. My goal for the system was pure sound quality, and I am very happy in that regards.

Wow, how much will it be all together?

I loved my JL 12w3v2, best sub I have owned (although I only owned a pair of mtx subs before that).

If I could afford all JL I would.

So I got my JL system today but I goofed and instead of getting these for the fronts:
C5-570 2-Way Component
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?comp_id=444

I accidentally picked up these:
C5-570x Coaxials
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?comp_id=445

What's everyones opinion on 2-Way Components vs. Coaxials?

Fronts: C5-570x Coaxials - $450

Rears: VR525-CXi Coaxials - $115

Sub: 10W3v3 in JL box - $320

Amp for fronts & rears: 300/4v2 Class A/B Four-Channel - $540

Amp for sub: 250/1v2 Class D Monoblock - $400

you should put components in the front. Cost difference shouldn't be drastic. Overall prices seem pretty close to what I paid. Which JL box are you using? I use the prowedge, and am very happy, not too much space, but still great sound.

Wow, I think that price for the fronts is insane. You could have gotten a set of Focal components for that price which would slaughter the JL coax's. I agree with Ami, get rid of those in favor of some components (doesn't have to be a 5x7, get a solid 6" of 5.25" and build/buy an adapter plate).

I agree wih the others here, get components for the front definitely, you can get the VR650csi's for about $250 saving you $200, which you can put towards a quality amp kit!!

So I was wondering if anyone here has used the C5-570 component system. I'm sure the sound quality is fantastic. But where would you put the crossovers? As a speaker noob, they look like something you would want to adjust from time to time for different sounds...

Crossovers are rarely adjusted once tuned. Ideally while you have the door plastic off, you would mount the crossovers inside the door, there are a few pockets of space. Mount the crossover, tune the system, then put the plastic back on.

Exactly.
Also - I would make sure that the X-over is mounted securely. Velcro doesn't work very well inside the door panel. The heat in the summer will melt the glue and all of a sudden - the unit is rattling, sliding etc
