hey, i just have a quick question about which way to position my sub. I currently have it so the sub fires forward towards the front of my car (in the trunk of my sedan), but looking the the pictures alot of people having it firing outwards towards the back of the trunk. Is there any difference between the two?

Some people say the sub will sound better if firing towards the rear. My opinion is to position it both ways and see which you like best. I'm curious though, does your box not have an angled back? If so, it will fit more neatly into the trunk if you have it rear firing.

Also, the type of box will make a difference. I wouldn't necessarily want a port firing into the cloth backing of the seat as it may deaden the sound ever so slightly.

If you have a sealed box, then face the subs toward the rear of the car. Otherwise, when you turn the stereo up you will hear the subs fluttering at higher volumes (Especially if you put the seats down). For a ported box, it generally doesnt matter as long as the port has a few inches clearance around it.

thanks, i have a 12" kick L5 in a ported kicker box. the port is on the side. so im guessing leaving it facing forwards towards the seat is fine. when im driving by myself i just fold down the back seats
