Hey,
has anyone ever installed the OEM Navi system in their car?
If so how much did it cost when everything was complete?
and where did you pick up the OEM navi system?
thanks

It's been looked into but is prohibitively expensive.
You can set up a system that looks much the same, and may even perform better, based on an OEM style screen and a Garmin black-box GPS unit.

Doing that requires getting the flip up screen from Xenon right? Then you have to attach the Garmin Black box to it i assume?
how much does the Garmin run for?

Yep. I think the screen is a bit over $700 and the Garmin unit is around $500.
Buying the bits and pieces for the OEM unit though would cost over double that new, and you'd be hard-pressed to find the parts at a wrecker since they never sold them here.

Doing this, how do you control the GPS? Is the screen touch sensitive, ,and can it control the unit? Is that how this thing works?

The OEM navi has a small controller that rests beside the shifter. I don't think it's touch screen though.

I think the last reply was talking about the Garmin system and the aftermarket screen.

I was talking about all navi systems. I would love to put one in my car, but I don't want to stick it to the windshield a la TomTom. Is the OEM integrated into the dash?

Yeah.. neither the OEM or the Garmin solutions use a touch screen, nor would you want them to with the screen positioned where it is.
The OEM controls integrate to the right of the shifter. The Garmin unit comes with its own remote.

im sure the dealer would sell the remote, which should work just like Ipod integration. And wire them to your garmin box or reprogram..?

I have both, my aftermarket screen and my garmin.
It's really easy to use the control remote. I've installed a DVD player also so i can watch movies.
I got them from this web site: http://www.caradvanced.com
It looks like OEM screen with more options.
