Hi, I recently encountered a problem. I was slowing down to a red light and the car stalled. I drive an automatic 2007 mazda 3 gt hatch. I was in auto mode when it stalled. It also brought up a CEL. I started it back up and continued to Pacific Mall which was about 10 minutes away. As I drove up to park the car it stalled again. The car has only stalled twice. Eqlso offered to come by Pmall to check it out. We wiped the MAF sensor with a cloth and disconnected the battery. The CEL disappeared after we reattached everything and the car "seemed" fine for a few days.
I recently took my car in for the 24k service. At that point it was still running fine. The service was done yesterday.
As I was driving downtown today, the car seem to shift funny again. But I couldn't quite put my finger on it, it just seemed like it was having trouble breathing. Sometimes it seems like the intake wasn't doing its job, the whistle would seem quieter or sometimes i wouldn't hear it at all, when I normally would. The rpms would randomly and occasionally rev abnormally when I was driving in auto mode. When I speed up the problems seems to go away but I can't be sure, but mostly it happens between 1 to 3 gear.
As I was coming home around 4pm I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic and for the hour and a half I was stuck in traffic the last half hour seemed to show more signs of the problems. I would be stopped and when I slowly stepped on the gas, first gear would rev up to 3-4k rpm and then suddenly jerk and shift to second, this happened once, but the rpms would rev abnormally a couple times like I mentioned above.
I have searched the forums and found out that it is quite possibly a "shift shock" issue and another issue regarding the stalling as I have read from another thread with a member having a similar problem.
I have a Fujita F5 CAI and a mazdaspeed 3 OEM exhaust on my car. I'm not 100% sure if it is caused by the intake but I'm planning on reverting back to stock to see if that would fix the problem.
I've checked the MAF to make sure its clean and not broken in any way and the car also sounds a bit different from before, but I can't be sure, maybe I just think it sounds different. Exhaust wise.
Can anyone else offer me any advice as to what I should check for and maybe other things I should be looking at that might be a cause for the problems. Under these circumstances, what are the chances that it could be the intake? Is it possible for the dealership to reject warranty work due to the intake for these specific problems? Should I definitely uninstall the intake before I take it in just to be safe? I've read the solutions from other threads, mostly the answers are "dealer". I don't drive the car like a monster, mostly just spirited drives not passed 4000 rpms.
I currently have 25000kms and I know I'm still within the warranty period but I want to try to waste as little time as possible in solving this, I don't want to bring it to the dealer to have them tell me that they can't replicate the problem.
Any help and adivce would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.
Edit: The intake and the exhaust was installed in march/april 2008.
