I just bought my 2008.5 GX Sport from Dave Wood and I have to say my experience was a good one.
I hadn't really thought of getting a Mazda but I knew a few people who had them and loved theirs so I decided to at least test drive one. On the day I drove a Toyota Matrix and a Jeep Patriot and right away the Mazda 3 was the most comfortable ride of the set. I dealt with Mark S who, as said before on here, is a really non-typical sales person. No pressure at all. After the test drive he showed me some numbers since I was unfamiliar with the pricing of the Mazda 3 (side note: anyone else like the fact Mazda includes the taxes in when they give their quotes? makes it so much easier!). The other dealers were already laying down payment plans with me or didn't even seem interested in my business.
I ho-humed it over and eventually decided a Mazda 3 sport would be alright. During this time, which was about a month, Mark kept me informed about the current promotions and to see if i was still interested. I was so I set up a day to come in and look some more.
I wasn't really picky about what colour it was or what options/accessories it had as long as it was an automatic, had A/C and the power package, and the rear step plates could be installed. They had 3 of what I wanted, Galaxy Grey, Merto Grey, and Copper Red. I picked the Copper Red, everyone I know has one Grey or the other.
When it came down to negotiations they went really smooth. The offer Mark gave was fair and what I expected and the end I think I got an alright deal.
As for the finacal manager he never mentioned anything about rust proofing or any other added service. He did try and sell the extended warranty but I knew going in I wasn't going to get that. That was the only pressure ever felt from the dealership.
I bought it on a Saturday, picked it up the following Wednesday which was a week ago. On the weekend Mark sent me an e-mail checking up on my Mazda 3 and me. I told him I was loving it.
All in all great experience...no I wait till my first service there.
