Ok...first off...this ain't no baller bling setup...it's for the track, so form definitely follows function...I'm not a huge fan of the white and is by no means a styling statement...but as a side comment, they do make the car look light on its feet...erm, wheels...
so anyway...here they are...all comments welcomed...
these are 225/45/17 Falken RT-615's on 17x7.5 wheels...
was ever so tempted to go 245/45/17...:loco

I know eh...you with black and white and me with the blue and bronze...:bana
I kinda wanted something different...I think I need a set of gunmetal's now...hehe...cuz I got the black 16" steelies for winter and 18" bronze for the street...
I'm thinking it'll be best to keep a bottle of Goo-Gone handy to clean off cone marks...these whites were dirty the moment they left allen's!
Anyone got suggestions for centre caps? el cheapo would be nice...and definitely not necessary...just curious...

since its for track, who cares about the color. When you're at the track, its all about the fun not the fame.

what a guy allen is! he called me back once I left to gently remind me "no hard driving for 24hrs" to prevent spinning the tire on the rim...very key thing...
also, these things are light...I can't say I feel a horse power gain, but it's definitely easier to get the rev's up quick in gear...as instructed, I've been gentle with the driving so far...I think they'll be fun on the track for sure!
would anyone recommend spraying your rims with a fine layer of Pam to keep cleanup easy?

Looks like a different car now. Do you plan on changing your rims + tires regularly or are you going to roll around in those whites for a while?
I really like the bronze RX8 rims. Glad you're trying to preserve them.

definitely not gonna be swapping rims for kicks...only reason I'd replace these is if I can find a deal on a set of light 17x8" wheels...
Also...I love the RX8's for the street...heavier duty for the downtown terrain and I don't feel bad if I scratch them...
I have enough problems dealing with 2 extra sets of rims in my condo already...
The goal is to actually preserve tires, believe it or not...having a set of 17's for track keeps replacement cost down and leave my street tires for the street...now I can think about a comfier set of street tires as well...

IF you want light track wheels, enkei RPF1 are cheap and very light. people buy them purposely for track. for 17s i checked for my car. 17x8 38 offset was under $1k

how much do those wheels weigh?
Fobio

These 17x7.5" Rota's are 17lb each.
The 17x8" Enkei Rpf1's are 15.5lb each.
The RT-615's are 25.3lb each. So per corner, I'm at ~ 42lb...:)
I was so checking these out, then I came to my senses and decided to budget more on tires instead:

My mantra: Tires, alignment, suspension...

Hey man...I kinda misunderstood your question?...hehe...yeah, I'll be swapping these in for track use only...part of this regiment requires a cordless impact gun and likely an empty parking lot, since I likely will get hassled if I do it at the condo on the regular...we'll see...

You have a lot of nice gear. I now know that you have some super awesome Falken race/competition tires. You're in a different Speed3 ownership league with the means to run faster than anyone on this forum. Is it safe to say that you could have had any car you wanted but chose the Speed b/c you're really interested in modifying your ride? Your current setup in terms of $/performance parallels s2000, 350z, STI territory; the really good stuff. You're a lucky guy.

^^^ I was gonna head off to bed for an early day tmr until I saw this...hehe...don't get me in trouble man!
In terms of mod-accounting, I'd say I'm middle of the ladder...chk out the HP-guys pushing Stage 2+...it's not just a number at the end of a word... :chuckle
I try to spend my money on what I think will make the most difference to a particular area of the car that I felt was deficient from the get go: handling...to be honest, the car has a lot of power for FWD...takes time to get used to...maybe next year, I'll get into more power mods...
And in terms of $...it's all about hard work but working smart, prudent investing, and sometimes, just pure luck...getting an STi is a little bit more than being able to afford monthly payments...notice how I NEVER chime into the insurance threads? =)
Some men spend their money on booze, smokes, women, cards...I just chose to spend some of it on my econobox...like someone else said...the goal is to get a car you don't need to mod!

Well said. You have every reason to be proud of your ability to mod your "econobox" till the end of time. You're a famous enthusiast on this forum so no secrets have been spilled by this thread alone.
I particularly like the last line you wrote, "the goal is to get a car you don't need to mod." I guess I have reached my goal. In my realm of limited means, the 'stock econobox' that I get to drive around whenever I want is the equivalent to any man's coveted Porsche 911 turbo. I have found true love.
Fobio, now let's race!

Hopefully I'll be in class Z or something today with my stock car & you'll be in class A. Then we won't compete :chuckle
