Hi,

I did a search through the forum to see if any one else has had this issue and I couldn't find anything. I have a 2008 Mazda 3 GS with about 6700 KM's on it. I got into the car today and started to back out of my parking spot when the steering begain rock hard and then the yellow wheel with the exclamation mark lit up on my dash to signify something to do with the power steering. So I put it back in the spot turned off the car and turned it back on and the power steering engaged and was working fine no more lights on the dash regarding the power steering. Turned off the car and checke the power steering fluid level and it is fine. I went out did some shopping got back in the car and drove home no problems. I am just cocnearned this might be eaeding up to somthing bigger. Any thoughts? I just moved to Toronto from Ottawa and on the drive up the steering was fine and has been fine for the past 2 days. I haven't had this issue before.

Did you crank the wheel all the way to one end by chance, to its limit?...Its probably nothing anyways, get used to alot of erroneous warning lights, that show themselves then disappear never to show again!...It's a common factor with these new fangled electronics. But if it persists just bring it to a dealer, thats what warranty is for.

I might have pushed it to the end of it's limit at one end but I have done that many times before and no issues. I need my oil changed so I was going to have MOT check it out while they were changing the OIL. I was thinking the ECU might need flashing also.

I remember when I used to drive on track 170 maybe in my 04..and making a small but wide turn the yellow sign would come on also..weird and it lit up just that one time

Okay, that seems messed up. Could be it is trying to correct for something. I don't have traction control so it isn't due to that.

I just thought I would post an update regarding this issue. I was also noticing that their was a noise sound like a whining and sonmethoing trying to wrok really hard before the power steering pump lit up. sometimes even though this noise occured the power steering pump wouoldn't light up. Since posting this issue I have had it happen around 30 times. I was finally able to make time to take it to Mazda of Toronto and they ahve ordered a new power steering pump for me.
