Anyone on here that has a body kit for sedan or hatch can share/advice on winter driving/experience.

This is the only thing holding me back from getting front and rear lips. I'm afraid I will damage it in the snow... :(:bang

Well... here's my take as I've had bodykits on all my previous cars.... except this one...

A fibre glass kit wil crack.... bank on it! Unless it's a striclty show car and will not be driven on a regular basis then you'll be fine. But once you take it on the road or highways with stones and other debris coming at you, you can quarentee a crack in it. As for being used in the winter, don't even bother.

As for a polyurethane kit, it is more durable as I got into a head on collision about 6 years ago and the front end of my bodykit was completely ripped off the car, but it stayed in one piece. I did keep it on in the winter but it was a b1tch to maintain.

Overall, if you're going to drive in the winter with a bodykit you could guarentee at the very minimum a whole lot of chips from the ice/ snow/ salt/ etc.

Just go for a lip kit.... at least those will be a heck of alot easier to remove during the winter, unless of course it gets molded to the car.

^^^ I had a urethane kit on my last car, pretty strong stuff! The guy who custom made the kit actually stood on the front bumper replacement and started jumping on it.

Anyway, you wouldn't want to be snowplowing for people with your kit/lip anyway, might as well take it off for the winter.

Btw Shotta, what kit are you looking at? I'm getting the SSG GT lip, and am looking for something to maybe round out the back. The sides look fine to me.

is your lip that easy to take off during winter? Dont have much knowledge in this stuff, but how does it stay on?

usually they're just held on with a few screws in the wheel well, and MAYBE double sided tape.

My previous "entire front bumper" was just held on with 4 screws and gravity :)

It's best to take the kit off if you can. I was plowing snow some days last winter. I have the SSG lip and it literally takes 2 mins to remove / install.

I haven't been looking yet SJ, as winter was my main concern but now that I have some insight I may just check out what SSG has to offer...maybe a good deal is in order :) huh SSG??

:S ... $200 for unpainted lip, $320 painted.
