I'm looking for some front speakers 4ohm to go with my pioneer D3. I'm not a big audio guy and plan on hooking up the components to the deck's built in amp.
Any suggestion? My budget is around/under $150

JL XR650 CSi
Used maybe!...Won't find those new at that price Ami!
Silvermist whats the rms watt rating of the unit? That's your starting point.
Then search the weeb for speakers matching the numbers...I concure with SFW, if you can find a set of JL components for that price grab them...they are awesome quality speakers.

RMS is just 22W with built in amp... a little weak for the speakers lol.
I have Kicker KS68's.... They're OK. they lack bass. The mids and treble are MUCH Better than stock, but you need a good sub (not-necessairly-meaning-pound-the-shit-out-of-your-eardrums "good")
I got mine off E-bay for 60 bucks a pair. I think they retail for 110 a pair.
Also, They're LOUD. I run them on a JBL 60.4, which can supply 60 watts RMS. The speakers are rated to 55. I can almost max it out with out distortion, but anything louder than 25 on my deck is Crazy loud and i go deaf. lol.

could scale down slightly to the VR650 CSi. Though I wuold be very hesitant to buy JL off ebay. Better to go to either Flagrum's place, or G&G audio.

I think that's the place! I'll be going there today and I'll get back with some more details!...I picked up my JL stuff from G&G on Kingston Rd. same as Ami, they had the best prices on JL equipment at the time...But I just dropped in to this place once out of curiousity and couldn't believe the stuff he has in there; floor to ceiling, JL amps, sub-boxes, speakers etc;etc;...and the old guy knows his stuff!

From what I heard Ami, G&G is getting or has already gotten out of car audio and will no longer be selling JL gear. Too bad as that was one of the best places in the GTA to get JL Audio products.

Okay, well the place is called OXFORD Autosound and Security Systems, located at 1178A Kennedy Rd....thats between Lawrence and Ellesmere on the west side across from Future Shop. Managers name is Jim you can reach him at 416-750-3070.They also do installs across the street.Anyways they carry JL, JBL, MTX, Clarion, Kenwood etc;
I priced out a couple of speakers that would suit your needs the JL TR650Csi components and also the 6x9 model of those; both are $150+tx.These speakers will run with as little as 5 watts!! so your amp would be sufficient.....
Anyways also gave G&G a call and the Proff was right they are getting out of Mobile Audio, but if your interested they are having a Garage Sale between July 7-20th, maybe you might find something.

thank you! I picked up two set of TR650 cxi. I'm using the deck's built in amp and it was suggested I go with coxial speaker instead of component since they draw more power & won't make a big difference in sound for my application.
I will have these installed next thursday, do I need spacer ring or anything for this? something my installer mentioned I might need.

You'll need spacers for those and I just happen to have a template if you'd like to make them yourself.
