I'm sure i've read something about this but could not find it, but is the Mazda 3 A/c completely useless? I have a 3 week old Mazda 3 sport GT and the A/C is very poor, is this normal? Also the computer tells me i'm usually doing an average of 63kph even when i've been doing entirely highway at 100+....even when reset on the motorway. Just 2 of several unwanted suprises....including the exhaust noise!:whoa

The A/C works fine for me :). I've had my 2007 Mazda3 GT since March of '07, and the A/C is crisp and cold almost as soon as you turn it on. Yes, the milleage suck arse big time when A/C is in use, but it serves it's purpose on those hot/ humid days....

It's not freezing cold air but it's good enough for me. Tints will help.

I don't have that feature on mine but my GPS tells me the same thing so it probably is accurate. It is an average and you had to start from 0 to get upto 100km/h right?
Try reseting the computer when you are already at 100km/h and check then.

including the exhaust noise!:whoa
What exhaust noise?

Let the car run a bit, turn on the AC and recycle the cabin air. That will put less strain on the compressor.

my a/c is awesome. Better then my previous cars, 2002 vw gti and 1999 maxima.

The A/C works but is no way near as bone chilling as my 2000 Toyota.
I have tried to reset at 100kph...still tells me mid 60's average...& i'm usually doing 200-300km runs at a constant 100+.
The exhaust has an old Janspeed boy racer sound to it...apparently that is the normal kinda burble. The car only has 3000 km on it (over 3 weeks) so i doubt that the exhaust would be shot.
As for fuel consumption at a steady 90-110 i'm getting around 6.7l/100 which if accurate is pretty good, although once in traffic its bad!

No its a 2008.5 3 sport GT...the exhaust has a definate burble & the engine at times sounds a bit like a good diesel!

I think there is TSB link on weak AC performance. On newer models its been fixed. Mine is always set on 1 and blows very cold so I have to leave it off so I dont freeze my ass off lol. As for mileage I noticed AC would give you another ~1.0L/100km

No wonder they gave you such a good deal... :)

j/k if the engine sounds like you are driving a diesel, I would get it into a service dept asap.. that can't be good.

I have no explaination for the other items.. maybe related?

just while its idling, apart from that it drvies fine....just a bit of a boy racer sound on idle...its my first & have to say probably last Mazda, unless it improves! Also it maybe a 2.3L but has less balls than an old 1986 GTI VW 1.8...sad really...but then again i did move to Canada~

You have warranty right? So take it in and have those things looked at...pretty simple.

Remember...No car is perfect!

Where can I find TSB's?

I think letting the A/C run for some time does help. In my car the AC seems to be fine it just cools slower if its sunny/hot/humid out there. I once let my AC run for like an hour as I was driving on the highway and it was about 25-26 degrees outside and to tell you the truth I was freezing inside andhad to turn it off :)
