Mazdaspeed short shifter

i had my MS Short shifter since xmas..never been a problem till now...itz difficult to put the car to rear gear...takes a few knocks before it gets there at least...itz like something is blocking it to go to the R gear...and also sometimes when i put the car from 1st to 2nd while driving~it makes this grinding noise at the short shifter i tink...but im sure i fully clutched like normal driving...

n e ideas?

It's a five minute job to pull the top of the console out... why don't you pop it out and look at the shifter?

i haven't had this problem with mine..for getting into reverse, make sure the shifter gets to neutral first. i've noticed that don't get into reverse on occasion; when that happens i put it in first, then neutral, and then it slides into reverse.

as for 1st-2nd, i don't have a problem with that.

if all else fails, put the stock shifter back and see if you still have problems. if you do, take it to the dealership with the stock shifter (bringing it in with the SS will just cause them to blame the short shifter)
