Driving home on the 400 southbound, just off the ramp to 401 east today...
I was following a white ford van for awhile as traffic was really bad. I looked down for a sec to change a song, and looked up to see there was about a 6 car gap between me and the white van. So I sped up a bit to catch up, little do I know the guy suddenly breaks and I was in the middle of accelerating!
Naturally, I breaked hard! My tires locked and I skid for about 2 metres. My front bumper slightly nudged his rear bumper. He didn't notice, and his rear bumper was one of those black plastic ones that would take a beating through WWII. It showed zero damage, and he drove off oblivious that his day could've been a lot worse.
The whole ride home I was thinking whether or not there was any damage to my front. I didn't suspect there would be, since my front license plate would've been the only thing damaged. I got home and there wasn't any visible damage other than one or 2 scratches; talk about a close call.
However, upon entering my house I realize there was a message from my insurance company. Some of you know I had a speeding ticket back last year, and fought it down to a "disobey sign" infraction. The insurance company finally caught up; probably ran a check on me. Premium is going up (400-500 a year), but I'm going to speak to them about it in detail.
Wow, what a close call. I could've slammed into that van!
