View Full Version : HID bulbs and premature deaths?
So I bought my Prolumens kit from Devin, TheXenonStore.com quite a few yrs ago. IIRC some time in 2005. Since then, I've lost THREE bulbs to premature deaths (they just suddenly die on me). I'm sick and tired of this. Latest one occurred last Sunday, July 20th.
Who else has had bad bulbs dealing with TheXenonStore?

lost 1 bulb in two years. I haven't tried I got from warranty claim isn't on my car yet. I had to buy replacement bulbs (since I always drive nights).

People its not the store.. you get what you pay for.. Buy something that is more reliable. Just search, and all you get is prolumens going off 1-2 times a year. Get something else, you could have bought Phillips for the amount of money you already have spent on replacing these bulbs. Or is it lifetime? anyways i think i made my point
It's a bit too late to tell me to buy a more reliable HID kit unless you're willing to pay me the amount I paid Devin for my kit and allow me to start from scratch? :)
It's lifetime but in a twisted fortunate way, replacement was as "easy" as meeting up with Devin and he'd swap the dead bulb with a new bulb for you. Now, however, he no longer processes in that fashion and requires you to ship the bulb to the States and they'll send back a new bulb.
It's now over a week and he's yet to tell me where I need to ship to so I gave up on him and am working with Supershyguy on getting new bulbs (thanks, Peter!)

shitty luck with those prolumens man.
Devin's supplier is Umnitza in California. Getting any type of warranty/refund with them is like asking stone to bleed.
xtec/apexcone (my experience is through The RPM Store) has excellent customer service in regards to the Lifetime Warranty on their bulbs (mine blew after 3 years)....you helped me put the replacements on last year :chuckle
Master of the bulb clips hahaha.
SSG provided, as requested, a new set of "Prolumen" bulbs.
I'm going forward with sending in the dead bulb and getting the replacement. Then, knock on wood, if my current bulbs were to die, I can do an immediate swap rather than drive around a pirate car.

I've gone through butt loads of bulbs, but I did not get them from Devin. Got mine from Lockdown. They are, however, prolumens. Jeff's been really good getting mine fixed under warranty. I think I've blown 3 or 4 since Jan 2006.

I'm looking for a Philips D2S kit now. I've heard great things about the Philips kits.

I've used a second hand Philips kit for about a year and it was a good kit. Main problem is that because of the age the connectors got some Calcium on them and every six months I would have to clean them up.
The bulbs are crazy expensive but seem to give better light then the current one i'm using.
