You will still get telemarketing, so don't be to thankful. "unsolicited calls will continue to be permitted from charities, political parties, pollsters, newspapers seeking subscriptions"

Ummm that's the people I don't want f*&*&*&* calling!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bet that when you get on that list those bastards will use it as an up-to-date live list (ie. they know they can reach someone on that number guaranteed).

What BS!

"..with which customers have existing business relationships".

and from the original article.

"Charities, political parties, polling firms, newspapers and companies that have done business with an individual over the past 18 months"

Actually the article says "..and companies with which customers have existing business relationships."

so Charities, etc can keep calling. It's just business can only call if they have done business within 18 months.

You're right, missed the 'and' in there.

I wouldn't mind charities calling me. Having done fund-raising consulting before; grassroots is a big source of donations for these organizations.

saw this on the news last night, i think an even better idea than having everyone who doesnt want to be called put on a list, make everyone who DOES want to be called on a list as im sure people who actually want telemarketers is a much smaller list than those who dont lol. either way i cant wait, no more 10 phone calls during dinner hour.

The list is a fine idea but how do I get Broli to stop calling me at all hours of the day and leaving heavy breathing on my answering machine.

I worked from home one day the other week and I won 5 free cruises that only cost less than two hundred bucks each.

Cardi, you're not fooling anyone. We ALL know you don't want those messages to stop...

I have mixed feelings about this since I worked a tele-marketing job part-time for a year or 2 while in school. Mind you this was years ago...but I remember how the flexible hours helped me work around my classes and the extra cash definitely helped me pay rent and tuition. It was "legit" work, the company I worked for was selling insurance on the balance of people's Petro-Canada credit cards.

BUT...I totally understand how annoying it is to receive tele-marketing calls! Especially now that over the last 5-10 years the number of calls people receive has increased dramatically.

So I guess it is a good idea to have this list but I don't know if I will put myself on it. When a tele-marketer calls I remember how tough a job it was so I am always nice to them. Mind you I never buy anything LOL.

Have you ever thought about giving in to his demands and give him what he wants.... It's not like it's a bad thing.

Apparently this was long overdue if it is down that quick.

Government websites suck when it comes to handling huge loads. Same thing happens during the 2-3 months before tax time.

Took me a few times but it worked. I'm wondering if those mysterious calls (with the disguised numbers) from the U.S. will stop too.

I think it would have been quicker/cheaper/easier to post a "I WANT telemarketers to contact me" - then you'd need one phone line for the one knuckle-head who calls!!! :)
