Hi all.......for a friday I have the crapiests news, just got a call from my mechanic/friend who tells me my PJB may need replacing!!! I was driving last Wednesday (pissing rain) and noticed my wipers just stopped working, fiddled with the switch and nothig. Pulled over and re-started the car and nothing, had to wait until the rain passed so I can get home from work.

Checked the fuses and all seem OK to me although I am faaaaar from beign a mechanic, so I brougth the car to a shop. They checked and say all fuses were OK and there motors are OK and relays etc.....and came to conclusion that the PJB may need replacing!!!!!! I just heard this part is about 1k+, I just bought his car 4 mo. ago and got not warranty - there are no mods n it and knew previous owner took GREAT care of it and was running great.

All is great with the car except the F***ng wipers...anyone else heard or know anything about this or is there other solutions????? Dos anyone know where I can get a used one from say a car that was written off or watever...I know I cant afford right now to spend over 1K on this repair, I gotta get to work and its been pissing rain so much this year.

I have fisrt gen 2004 GT Standard transmission

Your Help is kindly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

D.

I'd take it to another shop for a second opinion. You've checked everything so far so I'm not sure what to say. I would go to a dealer and see what they say, especially if you're warentee is near its end.

Can always pick up some rain-x until you figure out the problem. Definitely not a complete replacement for wipers but may help if you get caught in the rain again.

Please excuse my ignorance when it comes to acronyms, but what does PJB stand for? The only thing I can think of is Power Junction block but i don't want to assume. :-)

PJB == Passenger Junction Box.

And if you want to change it out yourself... I do have the instructions on how to do so. (I have both the mechanical and electrical manuals for my '08.)

That's what I figured, they used to call them Power Junction Boxes.....Its pretty disturbing that that unit would have gone period, but more then one case here on this site!!....You gotta wonder why other things were not affected and why they went at all! ...Its almost unheard of!!

Hope your repair is less expensive than you think.

another reason why Extended Warranty is a good idea.

I just had a look at the manual.... changing out the PJB isn't very much work... but there is a programming component... which requires the gear that only a shop would have. No idea of what the impact of not doing the programming is.... the manual basically says to "follow the on-screen instructions" :bang
