View Full Version : Annoying Rattle somewhere in Truck.
Lately, I have heard rattles and such coming from the trunk area of the car. It is especially noisy when we are on the highway. My car is a Sedan by the way. Does anyone else have this problem?

Are you sure you're hearing it from inside the trunk? Can you describe the rattle; I.e., like a nut bouncing around, or a cable smaking against something.
Check that the spare and the jack are tight, etc. Take out the spare to see if anything has fallen underneath.

I do get some clucking noises as well and it sounds like its coming from the right (passenger) side at the rear and seems like coming from the trunk. I also mentioned this to the dealer during my last service and they said there is nothing they could find that is loose. The noise is still there but a little less now. An yes it can be heard when im driving slow in a parking lot and not on the highway.

^ i can hear the same thing a clicking noise... it's a bit subtle and about every 20sec or so... It's weird. I can hear it on the highway with the music off.
It was worse on the highway but now it is all the time and since my daughter likes to sit in the front when Hubby is driving, guess who is relegated to the back seat? And hearing it more

Does it only make the noise on the highway? Does it make the noise over bumps? I assume you checked the jack and spare tire areas already to make sure nothing is rattling around there?
It seems to be all the time now, My husband says I listen too much, I say it should be like this.

The typical clunks found in the back are usually either the jack, spare tire/tools, or the rear sway bar where it bolts to the endlinks. Sometimes if the endlinks come loose there becomes a clunk when you go over bumps.
Joy. All of a sudden though? By the way, I meant TRUNK not Truck :)

Yep. Some people get it and some don't. It may losen up because of the vibrations of the road. It may not even be your issue but it "could" be the problem.

I have the same clunking since the beginning of summer. I figured it was my HID ballasts bumping around, but after I secured all four ballasts the clunking is still there. It's only noticeable at low speeds. One of my coworkers suggested it was the skid plate slapping against the chassis, but all the bolts are tight.

I had a problem like this for about a year, drove me NUTS! I would even have people sit in the back seat and offer to pay them to stop it!
My Rattle was only above 110km/hr or so. Turns out it was the rear bumper!
Its hard to explain but if I were to push lightly on the bottom of the bumper behind the rear wheel (where the aero flares would be). Push towards the lisence plate, it owuld make the clicking rattling sounds. Try and eliminate the clicking from there!
Hopefully this fixes it for some of you, you just need to think outside the box! hahah or in this case the car!
I will have a look at the jack and spare tire and see if I can fix the problem.

I think I have the same problem rear right passanger seat..but not really a rattle i think it may be the speakers..it goes beep beep beep beep like every 5 min or so..does our speaker make a warning noise if something is going wrong with it?? :S

get out on the ground and check your rear swaybar endlinks to make sure they are tight, not by just wiggling them, take a wrench to them, and them eliminate that off the list of possibilities...
