I tried searching and did not find anything helpful. Not sure if this has been discussed before on this forum. If it has then please direct me to it.

Im looking forward to add an OEM raised spoiler to my car but there is only one thing that is worrying me and that is you know what by now RUST!

For those of you who have an OEM raised spoiler (or a look alike) installed on your cars, can you tell me if you have noticed rust forming around the drill holes or bolts of the spoiler.

Is there anything that you guys did to prevent rust? like adding some sort of a rust protectant or applying paint and clear coat around the drilled area to avoid rust forming over a period of time?

I'd like to see some closeup pictures of the inside of the trunk where the bolts are.

Help is very much appreciated.

I think this belongs in Exterior Styling section..
As for rust, these bolts dont rust I think, they should be able to withstand anything. Are you thinking of Aftermaket spoilers or mazda ones?

I think you are right this thread should be moved to the Exterior Styling section....my mistake...How do you move this thread to that section?

As for the spoilers Im looking to buy the OEM style raised spoiler. I may buy it from other venders than the dealership to save some money. My concern is the rust in the drill area...I have seen some cars with some rust developing there maybe because the job wasnt well done...

I wouldn't worry about the bolts rusting. It's the trunk lid where the holes are cut that's the concern. The installer should put something on there to ensure it's coated and never rusts.

There's no worries, so long as the installation is proper.
