View Full Version : Jvc kw nx-7000
i just bought and install the new headunit to my wife's van The JVC KW-NX 7000. (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10108767&catid=12038&logon=&langid=EN) the install is very simple, the harness and kit cost me about $50, the installation took me around 40min. i was thinking about D3 and refublished Z1, but either not good enough or hard to get. therefore i end up getting the JVC unit (they are still on sale this week).
i will wrote a review with pixs soon.

I picked one up on Saturday as well. Just waiting for my dash-kit to get it in the car, can't wait, looks like a very nice unit.

So how do you like it? I just installed it last night and so far its working great. I am dissapointed though that a costly unit like this does not have radio RDS. Its also lacking some Canadian POIs (like Tim Hortons, Esso and so on) but I'm sure that will be updated. I also can't figure out the traffic service, supposedly it works in the GTA, but it doesn't display anything, this was another feature I really wanted to have...
Otherwise it works great, the sound quality is good (just have to get some better speakers) Picture quality is great and I love the USB/SD port. I ordered the Sirius add-on so we'll see how that works.
The only other problem not related to the deck is the Metra dash-kit, this unit sticks out way too far for my liking. I am going to find another conversion kit...
the features that you listed above are the low points i thought. but i didnt try them yet,:chuckle the high point will be the detachable LCD and easy to use GPS, that GPS is quicker IMO, and the LCD resolution is great too. for the sound -- b/c the my wife's sienna has JBL system, its a lit PITA to install with the JBL amp, but the sound came out amazing compared to OEM headunit. the "cam in" is good, i got the best back up system from China ($140) and connected to the unit without anyproblem (now she got the back up cam awoooo) and the "video out" is good to save you money, you dont need the more expensive DVD top mount unit or head-rest unit, or you need to do is just inst a screen (i didnt install yet). well, you need to by-pass the "handbreaked to watch", i can now play the DVD while using GPS.

How did you bypass the handbrake? I thought about just grouding it, but I don't know if the GPS will work (maybe thinking the parking brake is on?) or install a little switch?

what backup camera did you get & from where? I'm considering teh boyo's which are about $110 american to the door here.
$110 for a cam only? it must be a good one. what i got that inclu whole system with little LCD screen (for distence bar only) and it talks. LOL....

I am looking to get this unit as well, but i have auto climate control. Would I lose control of the temp on the current lcd if i install this? Where did you find the brackets for this unit for the 3?

I'm not 100% sure, but the only way to keep the display in place is if you keep the OEM stereo hidden somewhere in the glove box

Take a look at the pics under that link, they have the display for auto climate control still working. I wonder, how they did it.
