Since today the gas prices went down in the GTA area, I decided to go for my first fill up for my mazda 3. I pulled into petro canada after a long line and released the gas lever to open my gas door. I tried turning the gas cap counterclockwise ... o_O it wasn't opening. I tried harder and still didnt open. With a bunch of cars behind me, I kept my cool and went back into the car to open the manual thinking theres probably some serious technology to unlock it... nope. I tried again and after an assault of car honks i went f*k it and left.:flaming I went back to the avante mazda dealer. They took a look at it and tried to open it... and they couldn't -_-... Then they brought out plyers and still couldn't. They brought it into the garage and just ripped it apart lol. They blamed it on the people that wash and fill the gas up when the car leaves to lot for the first time and said they will have a talk with them. At least the service was fast and the manager was friendly because my dad knows frank the owner of avante lol. but still... So much for P.D.I--FAIL! lol

I assume that this was your first fill after taking delivery?
They must have cross threaded it. Hopefully you still got to tank up at the lower price. It's up a cent or two today.

Now if you're wondering what the heck to do with it once you've got it off...

cool...I'll try that the next time...it does annoy me at times when I have to keep the cap dangling I have hit the quater panel with the cap quite a few times and also wondered why isnt there a way to hang this somehow...

the EXACT same thing happened to me this week! on tuesday w/gas prices at 122 i was at shell (after waiting in line for 10 minutes) and when i finally got to the pump and swipped my credit card, i couldn't open the stupid cap. cars were honking so i got back in the car and drove home...and i think i forgot to cancel the transaction too, so i'm scared someone went and filled up on my credit card..........hands down the most embarrassing moment of my life :flaming.
then the next morning on my way to work the gas km counter dropped from 100km to 60km and the engine light came on during rush hour on the DVP. thank god for scarboro mazda fixing it right away...i thought they would think i was just stupid and couldn't open the gas cap, but they were awesome...they ripped it off and replaced the whole thing....took them about 20 minutes to make sure things were ok.
in conclusion: scarboro mazda is amazing :)
