Hey all,

Waas hoping to get some help installing a Garmin gvn 53 (black box) ...

1) First issue is how to install the mute function on the unit .. the harness comes with a mute cable that disables sound when the Garmin spits out the driving instruction and enables all sound when the instruction is done.

2) Connection to accessory power .. im pretty new at this install stuff and was hoping that someone could point out where a constant and accessory power connection could be had without stripping an existing wire ... ie fuse box ?

That's all for now

Cheers

I was in contact with my contacts from Dufferin Mazda there is a mute wire in the stock wiring harness... the only thing you need is a male pin to hook up the wire and slide it into the harness... The color or of wire is brown and it does say tel-mute. From my understanding from what my contact said is it grounds itself letting the voice over come on then when complete it shuts off and the radio kicks back in.... The only thing is u gotta make sure that the GVN53 has a really good ground if it does not the mute wire will not turn on due to poor grounding.

So I tried it a few times relocating the ground and now it works like it was stock.

Hope this helps out for anyone having this unit in there 3
