Hey Guys,
Looking to install my new deck, and the PAC SWI-PS. I know of this tutorial:
http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=48724.0
But am confused at:
White w/ Black Stripe and Silver Dots (Factory Harness) ---> Thick Black w/ Green Stripe (Factory Harness) - TAP WIRE INTO GROUND
Do we cut the "White w/ Black stripe and Silver Dots (Factory Harness) and ground it out? If so, what do we do with the "Thick Black w/ Green Stripe (Factory Harness)? What are these wires originally for??
Thanks
John

Hey, I just installed this over the weekend. All i did was cut the wires from pin 9 and 10 on the factory harness and soldered them together with the two wires from the swi interface. the white wire goes to pin 10, the other wire to pin 9. Those two wires are the positive and negative wires from the factory steering wheel controls

The Walkthrough shows:
Red (SWI) ---> Yellow w/ Silver Dots (Factory Harness) - SWITCHED 12v POWER
Black (SWI) ---> Thick Black w/ Green Stripe (Factory Harness) - GROUND
White (SWI) ---> Brown w/ Yellow Stripe and Silver Dots (Factory Harness) - STEERING WHEEL INTERFACE
White w/ Black Stripe and Silver Dots (Factory Harness) ---> Thick Black w/ Green Stripe (Factory Harness) - TAP WIRE INTO GROUND
The last set is the confusing part. LOL

Ok for the last wire, just splice it into the aftermarket ground wire. That's the same thing I did with the Swi-Jack.

So basically, you have 3 grounds. The ground from the aftermarket deck, The ground from the SWI interface, and the ground wire from the factory harness. Just joined all those wires together to the ground wire from the aftermarket factory harness.

Have you had any issues with the SWI-jack? I'm looking to get one for my new JVC deck. I've heard some issues with delays and non-responsiveness. Of course it still beats not having wheel controlls at all...

Yeah I do notice a delay. Ive got it hooked up to my alpine HU, it takes a second or second and a half to response. But u're right it's better then none at all. I think it's decent, not perfect. Hope it helps
