once again, the best place to start is our sponsors. Simple Tire, Tires23, Nextmod, all sell winter tire packages. What do you consider cheap?
I would suggest looking back at historical threads to see typical pricing. You can find said threads by using our search feature.

Hope I don't get flamed for this b/c I wouldn't buy tires at Cdn tires myself, but Cdn Tire now carries General Exclaim UHP's in stock Mazda3 sizes.
They are on sale right now and I was able to price out 4 tires at 205-50-17 W93 for less than $500.

as a burlington Canadian tire guy/installer....

the general exclaim is a all season tire

if you want a cheap winter tire, i'd suggest the Goodyear Nordic. we sell ALOT of those in the fall/winter.
i can get you some prices if you'd like, by the looks of your sig, i take it you need 195/65R15 tires, correct?

although the Exclaim UHP is rated an "M+S", i would NOT run these tires in the winter ...and TireRack recommends against it as well (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=Exclaim+UHP)

M+S is just a designation that the *tread* meets loose design specs to qualify for M+S...the tire itself isn't put through any sort of tests in snow...which is why the Rubber Association of Canada (RAC) has the mountain+snowflake symbol since RAC does test the tires in certain conditions.

look at it this way, any cheap winter tire will be better than the best all-season tire in the snow/ice.

Tireworld in Brampton ... not sure the addy but they are off Steels near Torbram Rd ... ask for Dane (he's a soccer mate of mine) cheap and they generally have 80 - 90% tread. They also fix nails etc ... for like 5 to 10 bux .. cheap !

Cheers

Woops, missed the part where he said he needed a winter tire.

Michelin X-Ice is an excellent tire as well.

I am running Hankook W300 Ice Bear.

Once the Exclaim get into lower profiles it has a different load rating and becomes a UHP Summer Tire. I'm pretty sure its 40 series and below but it might include 45 as well. You'll notice on their tire charts that it switches load ratings and from all season to W or Y rated summer tires.
