Hey guys, just a big heads up for this long weekend. My OPP buddy had advised me that this long weekend they will be doing the standard policing on the 400. BUT here is the new stuff. The OPP will be setting up a new task force specifically for that weekend, that will be enforcing EVERYTHING.. and when i mean EVERYTHING, i mean EVERYTHING.. I was advised they will not be letting anything pass, and no barganing. Basically if you get pulled over, your getting a ticket 100% with no negociation. And when he mentioned everything, he means stuff like, loud mufflers, non DOT lights, dumb neons under the car, improper licence plate location stuff like that you know... There gonna use the small stuff to catch bigger stuff when pulled over. Now it wont be 100km/h or else, just go with the flow of traffic. He told me that if you are driving faster than the flow of traffic, by like 10km/h you gonna get pulled, so if the traffic is going like 125km/h, and you get pulled for 135km/h, your gonna get 35km/h over. So be forewarned, this task force will not be lienient.

thanks for the heads up DM
Pretty much a given. Its the last long weekend of the summer, a lot of people will be out.
I'm avoiding hwy 400 like the plague and making my way up through smaller routes.

Thanks for the heads up, I will be going up the 400 about 7am so hopefully traffic is null at that time, driving to Killbear Provincal Park to camp and fish for the weekend :)

I'm also leaving at 5am Saturday morning to North Bay. Just set the cruise control to 105 and relax. I'll just let some other suckers fly by me and get nailed.
I will just park my car in my garage for the weekend.

Thanks for the heads up too! Fingers crossed she don't get bunged up too bad on Saturday morning...
I'm heading to a friend's cottage about 300m away from Killbear and I can't wait! Weather forecast looks excellent....

I really wish they spent their time doing more productive things than slowing down an already packed Hwy system

Actually I can verify this since I just got a ticket this morning:mad:
I take the same f'ing route (Willowdale) everyday for the past 2 years. Going with traffic at 70km on a 50 zone. Nothing. Guess what today? A cop was in the bushes pulling cars left and right like he's fishing.
When I ask him why am I the one being pulled over when there were cars in front of me going at 70km also. His reply was that he can't possibly pull ALL the cars over. LOL. I got the short end of the stick I guess.
5 mins. later, I see another speed trap zone by Steeles and 404. They're out on full force early so be careful folks.

I wish they'd stand on the left side of the hwy and wave a blue flag at all the clueless wknd drivers to keep them from clogging up the left lane and causing undue frustration and undue speed for drivers trying to pass them.

Like ticketing dbag speeders who crash, kill, and stop the flow of all hwy 400 traffic?
Let the OPP do their job to clean up the highway of bad drivers.
Pretty much every time I use the 400 I have near death experiences.

the mere sight of a cop slows down traffic....PLUS the DB drivers on the road...making it worse....and the OPP doesn't JUST pull over bad drivers...they pull over cars going over the speed limit...that doesn't make you a bad driver

XD
What, if they get waived at 3 times, they have to pull off the highway at the next exit and get back on? Do a drive through? LMAO
For those who are all "but omgz cops shouldn't stereotype all street racers because i'm not one"
Statistically speaking and with probability in play, how likely is a 'modified' car would be speeding? I would say more likely than a beige camry.
If you haven't done anything wrong, there's nothing to be afraid of.

It's called the PASSING lane for a reason yet a lot of GTA drivers have no frickin clue about that. Drivers everywhere else including the north eastern part of the States that I've driven in, are so much more considerate in that sense. KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS.
Doesn't help that I'm heading north on the 400 for camping this weekend too. Let's see, hoggers of passing lane going 10km/h under limit... Corolla, Corolla, Tempo, Accent LOL :chuckle

I agree with that...however, what REALLY annoys me is when someone is going like 110...JUST gets in front of the car and moves over a lane...then SPEEDS UP to go faster...>_<

OPP were in full force on my trip out east to Quebec last night. I left Scarborough around 7:30 pm, once I was past Oshawa there was a cop at least every 20-30 kms with someone pulled over. Just before Cornwall, a dude in a black sunfire was flying in the left lane passing me, about 11-11:30pm, well over 150, I'd say closer to 170-180km/h, OPP was right there in the median...the guy tried to lose the OPP in a crowd of cars just ahead, but the OPP forced him to the shoulder and the dude eventually gave up. Lost car, license, and possibly jail time!
I has cruise set to 120 and they never touched me.

gotta agree with this as i got stuck behind a camry going 70 in an 80 on guelph line towards rockwood, an accent on the 401, no tempos, one corolla. actually one corolla in front of me was doing about a 140 lol. but it was a young guy haha. brutal weekend. but it was a beer weekend for sure!

Maybe its just me but for some reason I always notice the cops on hwy 400 more than anyother hwys....whats their beef?
I drive to Hamilton mtn every day to work. Take the Linc there and the Redhill back. I always see 2 to 3 people pulled over each way. I only do 5 - 10 over max.

The huge proportion of seriously brain-damaged drivers out there. I was leaving Orillia and getting on the hwy, at the end of the merge lane (one of those shorties) - I'm already doing about 110, indicator on, and it's a 90 zone, some jack*55 in a Mazda 3 no less, sedan, tinted windows, decides he HAS to be in front of me, so speeds up to 115-120 and cuts me off (I had him in FULL view in side view mirror). If you're a member here (I doubt it), shame on you!
Passed a few cops along the way, all had cars pulled over. Cops will try to be where the action is, and the 400 has a LOT of action. I see many more dangerous (not necessarily faster) drivers on my way back from work b/t Morningside and Bayview every day. (The old, where's a cop when you need one - I guess the 400!!!!) :)

+1.
Drive safely, and properly and you won't have a problem with the OPP. What's the rush?

i really dont like when people you like bad mouth the OPP. do you know what the main purpose of the OPP is in the GTA? patrol the highways, and keep our roads safe. Im not exactly sure what you mean by do "more productive things." The OPP are essentially traffic police, and thats their job. And every long weekend someone dies on the major series highways due to some form of careless/speeding/wreckless driving. Global news reported already 2 deaths as of sunday night for this long weekend due to road related incidents. So please enlighten me what they could do to be more productive then trying to prevent these deaths.

Had the same thing happen to me today. Coming back along 47, going through Port Perry and a pickup truck and myself are coasting along the road at 90km/h for the last half hour. We have to merge, and this Civic with a carbon fibre hood won't let the guy behind me in. He literally forces him off the road.
Coasting for another ten minutes we come to a stale red light so I move to the empty right lane, civic behind. As we approach the light it turns to green, so we zip past the cars sitting at the light. I merged in, but 2 Fast to Furious Civic decides he wants to get in front of me... I'm like wtf.. there's like no one behind me, and your lane is ending. He ends up cutting me off while driving on the gravel. I never seen something so stupid. His vanity plates was something F1. What a tard.

how about getting cut off by 2 dickhead speed bikes. i was on the 401 back to guelph when these idiots in their bikes were racing and cut me off completely without even caring. i almost slammed into the guardrail. luckily i saw them in the rear view. oh yea you know that guy that was said about getting pulled over doing like 210 or something. that was one of them AHAHAHAHAHA. i got onto the hanlon towards guelph and there he is. drove by him gave him the finger and laughed. dumb ass gets taken away in a cop car... ahh justice is finally served
