View Full Version : A/C might be starting to go and I'm not happy
The past couple of days I have noticed my AC in the car is not as good as usual and there is a stale smell coming from the vents. If the AC is going already, I cannot believe it. Car has just under 40 K on it and is not even two years old yet.
Sigh.
Anyone else have issues with the AC on their 2007 models?:flaming

You will get a smell if you switch between thew A/C and vent. I get it also and it's just normal.
Does it smell like it's damp or almost mouldy?

Could be you just need an A/C charge and as for the smell, I'd check your cabin filter!, if so equipped!.
As a side-note folks its important that you use the a/c atleast once a month for 20 minutes or so just to keep the system running properly.

The car is a 2007. An AC Charge already??? I highly doubt it :(

If it's just the mildew type smell it's normal. It probably WILL happen again. You can take it in but they probably won't be able to do anything for it.
Thats the problem. It was not the Mildew type smell, It smelled like humidity from outside

I get that frequently especially if its damp out side and I have just started my AC.....I think its normal. Let it run for sometime and it will go away...
Thats fine but it does not seem as cold as usual. I think the car is out to get me :)

If it's an 2007, just take it in and have it looked at. It should be under warranty. Give yourself piece of mind.
We all have a run of bad luck sometimes and it seems everythying/everyone is out to get us. Take a deep breath and this too will pass.

to keep the mildew and musty smell from your car always after you run your A/C dry out the cooling rad, or what ever its called by running with A/C off, temp at high and fan speed at high while the car is running for at least 30 to 45 seconds. The heat will dry out the cooling rad and thus no mildew will form so no smell. I do it all a time and have no bad smell.
Check your vent temp, if its like my car and is 50F Mazda will say its normal and send you on your way. Its a Mazda with a weak A/C
Good luck, let us know how it went...
We are thinking of trading in the car. Too many stupid problems happening lately. Not sure yet though. Have to see if it is really worth it. It also could be we got a lemon. It happens. I dont hate Mazda and I dont hate the 3. I prefer the hatch actually :)
