I've had Magellin, LG and a few others and alway end up with Garmin - has some issues with directions at times (apparently no on-ramp to the 401 West on Leslie or Morningside - the TWO on-ramps I use the most). I have a Nuvi 250 - love it, my wife has the 360 or something like that - voice directions, all the bells and whistles.
But use that little search function on this site (and by that I do not mean MGM) and you will find what you are looking for.

I've been using the Garmin GVN53 blackbox hooked up to the oem looking navi screen that folds away in the top of the dash... It work great never had a problem and it was easy to hook up....picked both up for around $1000

Had my Garmin 250W for almost a year and I like it a lot. I haven't had much experience with other brands but it seems to work well for me. It gets a little confused in subdivisions, and seems to want to put me on the 407 when I don't want to pay, but otherwise it does great! Also very handy for finding things like gas stations, restaurants etc.

Garmin 250W here as well for a few months and I love this thing. POI function is great when trying to find particular things when you're in an area you're not to familar with. Obviously it has its flaws (not recognizing new subdivisions, routing options etc.) but all in all a great unit. I've tried the Tom Tom One and I ended up returning it for this one.

There's an option to avoid toll roads if I remember correctly, I might be wrong, I'll check it out later.

I use a Navigon 7100: http://navigonusa.com/products/7100/

I got mine on sale from future shop for $299 and now they are on sale for $249.

I've used a Garmin Nuvi for 2 years, but I prefer this. It has lane assist which is really nice in the US or in Europe. The lifetime traffic alert is crap in Canada. You need to be right downtown for it to work, and the alerts are only applicable to the highways and not the city streets.

The downfall to the Navigon is that is not as easy as the Nuvi to use and you need to use the included stylus unless you have super small hands.

If you are not using it in the US, then both are equal.

I have the sony. After looking at the units instore I felt the sony looked the cleanest.

It came with version 1 software that was a little slow. Called sony & they mailed me the version 3 software (came in 4 days) and installed it. It out performs my previous garmin unit now.

I am using a Garmin Nuvi 250. I didn't really have room to choose becuase I bought it off a friend for $100. Used it this weekend for the first time and I love it. Easy to read and simple to use.

I use the Garmin Zumo 550. It moves easily from car to car to bike to bike. It's a little bit bulky but works great.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 650. Instead of mounting it on the window or one the dash (used to with the provided disc), I got the following products from ProClip (http://www.proclipusa.com)

Part 1 - Vehicle Clip (Center Mount) (http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpath=144&pageid=9578&processor=content&pcategoryid=13037&categoryid=13994&year=2008&p_origin=144&p_sectionid=144&p_pageid=8901&p_processor=asp&p_asp_processor=product&p_action=proclipcategorysearch&p_ppagecategoryid=13872&p_pagecategoryid=14172&p_pcategoryid=13037&p_categoryid=13994&p_sitecategoryid=&p_year=2008&p_countryid=998&p_leftorright=)

Part 2 - Garmin Mount (http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpath=143&pageid=11747&processor=content&pcategoryid=13827&categoryid=16342&p_origin=143&p_sectionid=143&p_pageid=8900&p_processor=asp&p_asp_processor=product&p_action=proclipcategorysearch&p_ppagecategoryid=&p_pagecategoryid=&p_pcategoryid=13827&p_categoryid=16342&p_sitecategoryid=&p_year=&p_countryid=998&p_leftorright=)

I also got the following

Part 1 - Vehicle Mount (Angled mount) (http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpath=144&pageid=8704&processor=content&pcategoryid=13037&categoryid=13994&year=2008&p_origin=144&p_sectionid=144&p_pageid=8901&p_processor=asp&p_asp_processor=product&p_action=proclipcategorysearch&p_ppagecategoryid=13872&p_pagecategoryid=14172&p_pcategoryid=13037&p_categoryid=13994&p_sitecategoryid=&p_year=2008&p_countryid=998&p_leftorright=)

as I had the previous center mount with a holder for my cell phone, but I didn't like this angled mount (sticks out too much and don't like the fitment). So I just swapped out the cell holder for the GPS holder and it works REAL nice. Don't have to stretch to touch the screen and it's at a good enough angle to see well without taking my eyes off the road that much. I'll take an actual picture later tonight.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 650 as well. Overall it works pretty good...it's just a little stunned when you change cities. I take it with me when I travel and it takes a long time to acquire satellites in a new location. (No, I don't want to know what restaurants are in Dallas when I'm standing here in New York City! Wake up!)

I got the Garmin for the wife and I run tomtom on my phone.
They both do the job... I rarely go anywhere that I'm not at least a little familar with already.... but the wife used to always get lost, so navigation was a must for her.
