It's quite unfortunate to say the least. What bothers me is companies try to be oblivious to these sorts of things and basically shove it under the carpet. A whole child-abuse revolution, solely driven off profits, yet these companies are still in business, let alone allowed to operate. On one side of the coin, we are to blame since we keep up the demand, but if these companies ACTUALLY cared, they would really do something about it since the issue is right at the beginning of the value chain, before we can even conceive owning such an item. This has been going on for years and years...just sad.

In their shoes. They're getting paid whatever they can get.. better than being unemployed. not to say that what these companies are doing is right.
It's not slavery.

Unsanitary conditions, outdated and potentially dangerous machines, beatings, etc... sounds pretty close to slavery

i do my very best to avoid companies i know are human rights violators or who support financially things that i am morally opposed to.
it is very hard with many modern corporations being owned or affiliated with others.
sweatshop work is a disgusting violation of basic human rights imo, and the statement that at least they are getting something better than being unemployed is a sham that people here use to make themseleves feel better.
just because it may seem to someone working there that it is work, and that they are at least getting something doesn't make it right, it is rather a testament to the social inequalities that many people in the world have to suffer with!

Now after reading the actual link Pearly posted.
I agree with what broli said. For what I mentioned above was for the ones with a choice to work or not.
