The driver of the red EG is what is particularly fast. His lines and driving input are both very good. He also appears to be quite familiar with the lap layout. You can't replace seat time on a track...

I've met him and yeah, he competed at CSCS last yr...2200lbs, caged and semi-gutted 170whp ITR motor...
with 3200lbs myself, I'm hoping a set of R-compounds and a downpipe will make me competitive...
for the record...the red EG and I ran almost identical time attack times...I ran 1.27.34, he ran 1.27.29...it's good to chase someone's line tho to pick-up their strengths and learn from their mistakes.

sure the downpipe will help but i'd suggest getting stronger racing pads and brake oil. Late braking will give you lots of time back.

Oh yeah man...I'm a handling guy, so I'm always in search of the "better" setup. Next yr, I plan to change my pads out for tracking so I'll have a set of front track pads. I've worn out my HPS this season and going stock for winter. Hook me up with a source for Endless if you know someone. I haven't been able to push the brake's limit since I swapped out my glazed stock pads and swapped in lines, fluid, and HPS.
Wow. Really impressive Fobio.
Thanks man. It's real good stress relief.

you can do this. Give speedstar a call and ask them if endless makes pads for your car. If they said yes then good, hang up and call other local dealers or US dealers to get them. Speedstar is a bank robber.... so i'd avoid them if you can

Great Job Fobio. When you get your R compounds you will be faster than than red honda. To think you hung in there with your daily driver when his car is pretty much a dedicated lapping car.
Kevin@nextmod

but he's got double the hp on his car then the civic. If the civic gets a k20 in there. I think it'll be a different story.

thanks man. those are some of the same thoguhts I have to help me sleep for now...

not really double...tho I wish that was the case...hehe...I have about 100hp on the civic right now...and he's got 1000lbs on me. Caged and with coilovers, I'd say the car is much more track oriented than I at this point...I'm not too familiar with the nomenclature, but a supercharged RSX Type-S will prolly have me beat in a straight at this point...but with a DP and a new tune, it'll be a different story...considering without R's and wonky brakes we ran the same time, I should have him if I got R's and a bit more power...but nothing stays the same, as I'm sure all Technotik guys are very skilled and resourceful...
next yr, I'm looking to make a 3 sec difference, which would make podium attainable...I can go on and on about nuances between my car and my opponents' cars but then that's not the point now, is it...I really just want the car to develop its own comfortable, consistent envelope.

you're going to keep going to the cayuga track? i actually recommend going to mosport full track. That track is much more fun and its more high hp friendly. more elevation changes, fast speed turns. But the track is very dangerous as lots of walls are there.

lol trying to defend a fellow honda?
the honda is lighter and probably has better suspension so it would out corner the MS3...

you're right...mosport big track is a lot of fun...easier on tires...but fees are a little high and the prospect of a high speed crash while I'm still pushing the car isn't very confidence inspiring.
in regards to the bigger HP and elevation, I also have to agree on those 2 points, but it's the elevation changes that makes it better...using the road elevation to go fast is definitely more ballsy than just lapping a flat track...to be honest after getting my feet wet at dunnville and running CSCS at Cayuga, I find flat tracks to be somewhat frustrating. Nonetheless, it's good practice and it's the cheapest way to get timed...
I would love nothing less than to spend next yr lapping mosport ddt, big track and calabogie... :hawt

mosport DDT is fun.... good for practice but its small. Its more for the civics, or other lower hp cars. I was just there monday and their were lots of different types of cars. A few of my civics, M3s, porsche GT3, elise, GTR R35 etc.... The best runs were the civics and the elise. Because of the tighter turns and less power straights, the high hp cars couldn't really use there power.

Fobio-have you ever been on the track with R compounds? I think that will be your 3 seconds right there. Try the Hawk HP plus.
Kevin@nextmod

Forget about the hp+. If you can't get endless pads, then go with the hawk DTC-60

The fact you have an auto and not a speed 3 isn't an issue. Fobio can tell you first hand regular Mazda 3s w/ autos are not slow. Right Fobio? haha
Nice video, how come you didn't show me on sat?

track your car while you still have it. I regret not tracking my old 3 when i had it. But i'm enjoying every sec of time on my civic when i was at the track.

I actually watched the video cause of your comment.
Fobio, did you get impatient and wanted to pass him in the corner (1:14 mark)? haha
Looks like the driver of the CRX needs to go to track school or re-visit track school.

Didn't you go to Shannonville already? And how is an SI not ready for the track?

I'm never impatient on lapping...not like it's a race...and I try to stay well back as to not spook ppl...I really just thought he was leaving the track (pit-out) and didn't expect him to take the wide line, as I try to double-apex that turn...
The SI is a great handling pkg out of the box...I'm sure Pearly will be one to look out for come next season... =)

Please keep in mind that i suck...hahaha so when you see me at the track, don't push me off....hahaha... I'm getting new coilovers next year because i find mine not harsh and stiff enough for track and daily drive....haha... And my full brake setup will be on hopefully
