I got cut off hard today and had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting the person in front of me. However, I ended up getting rear ended instead. I get home, deal with the insurance company, and get in my car to go out again (I drive a 2005 mazda 3 GT) but my car won't start.
I have lots of power to everything but it doesn't even try to turn over. It's just like when you don't push the clutch in all the way before starting it except I am pushing the clutch in all the way. The Mazda service dep't isn't open on weekends and Monday is a holiday. So, on Monday night I'm getting my car towed to Mazda and hopefully they can look at it soon to see why the heck it won't start and if it's a cause of the accident or just some strange coincidence. Anyone heard of a car not starting after getting into an accident?

Note. I can't seem to hear the Fuel Pump kicking in when turning my key just the first bit.

The damage to the back of the car seems to be fairly minimal with only a bent up license plate and some scratching and such to the middle of the back bumper.

Please help.

If you have damaged lights or wires, there could be
blown fuses. If so ,check fuses and don't forget remove fuse from gamaged line. Could be fire.

not sure is there a fuel shut off switch in the 3's? I know my truck had it and you had to push a button to get the fuel pump pumping again.

Newer heard about inertia switch on Mazda3.
Have seen on 323, under passenger seat.
May be hit was registered electronically. In this case more like
it could be reset by detaching accumulator.
It would well to know what it was really.

Where is the accumulator?

Is it joke?
Accumulator (battery) is in engine compartment in plastic box.
Look in user’s manual.
There are two terminals. Do remove minus wire from terminal, push 15 sec. break pedal and set wire back. Wire has to be tightened.
Do try, may be it work.

Boosted the car and it started.
Drove the car to Mazda service and they couldn't find anything wrong with it..... Weird. never had starting issues before.
Guess all is good for now.

No problem. If i don't post in here again about this issue then it was permanently solved.

Not sure what may have drained the battery enough to make the car not start but hopefully it was just an interior light left on or something like that.

If problem re-occurs then I will be sure to update this thread.

Cheers.
