Hey Guys

Okay so i bought MTX 10" Car Subwoofer (TCE510X2D). This is 2 10' subs at 600W rms at 2 ohms.

Now i was looking at an amp. i was wondering out of these 3 amps (exile x400.1, mtx TC3001, and mtx TC2002) which would be better for the price heres the comparison.

none of those amps have to power to properly drive those speakers. Your subs are rated at 600RMS at 2 ohms. You should always over power your speakers to clean sound. If you under power them you will try to raise the gain and get distorted sound which will lead to a short life of the subwoofer voice coils. Look for an amp that pushes 650-700 RMS at 2 ohms.

mind you that the subs nly have 300rms each

That's why you need an amp that pushed 650-700 RMs, 325-350 watts RMS per channel.

i agree with mdass. the ones u have chosen to potentially buy are way under powered for the subs. you'll just end up over heating it all the time and not really be satisfied with the sound that comes out of it. i would look for one that is at least 600 to match the subs. also depends on the quality of the subs and amp.

i had a Rockford p8002 amp and i blew 6 Rockford subs with it. then i went to the clarion ones and i have to say im REALLY surprised with how they held up and how they sound with that amp. then i went to JL audio 1001 amp and a JL13W7 but i think i pushed the sub too much for the improper box and i blew it haha (keep that in mind too). so now im back to the clarions and again. sound amazing for the price.

but with all the systems ive heard and hooked up. definetly go for at least the same power as the subs are or overpower them. but just turn the gain down or you wont have any subs left

There is only one reason to buy same power amplifier or even bit more.
Why to build less power sound system if you could get more?
Main fault when people do blowing bass speakers is improperly adjusted system.
Instead to lower high or mid cannels, they rising bass.
As result they are getting distorted (square) waves on output. These waves heating coils end even could to destroy coil or diaphragm.

I had the MTX TC3001. Absolute garbage. It is 900 watt peak, 300watt rms, I had it paired with the matching single 12" MTX sub also rated at 900/300W. After 4 months the amp blew, and I don't even have the bass turned up most of the time. Do yourself a favour and spend money up front for a better amp, don't cheap out or it will end up costing you more than you though like it did for me. And $200 is too much for that amp, I talked the sales guy down to $125 plus tax brand new. I also bought it from Futureshop (huge mistake).

Edit: Also, being a cheap amp, the adjustability was poor at best. Only time I could ever hear the sub properly, it sounded like a farting walrus. If I turned the gain down below 3/4 (to try and get a crisp sound) it would basically just stop powering the sub, lol.

Infinity Reference amps are decent, not the greatest not the worst. they have a low signal to noise ratio so you will have to raise the gain a little higher on these amps to get decent power output. I suggest looking for a higher quality amp rather then to go for one that just wont give you wat you need. You'll end up spending more money later on to upgrade.

Isn't best. Price could be less.
Do try to search fom another traider.
I'd recommemnd to search Boss Audio.
Had seen Kenwood good characteristics, but with cooler.
For me, I'd preffer Alpine PDX-1.600 ,but price.

Alpine's PDX line is top notch however can be pricey. You can go with alpine's MRP line. Audio Video has the MRP - M850 which puts out 800watts RMS at 2ohms. It's on sale right now for $399.99. And you can bargain with the guys over there too. It's an awesome amp, I had it one of my previous installs.

+1 for Alpine.

I've got the PDX 5 and its awesome. Like mdass52 said its a little pricey but you are getting what you pay for - an amp that you'll carry for the rest of your life.

I got a sweet deal on it too ... $575. Plus they threw in a 4 gauge amp kit for $1 LOL. Alpine rep screwed up :chuckle

Yes, we all for Alpine, but sound experiments could be too expensive.
Have found handy site. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductList.aspx?CategoryID=1&ManufacturerID=0
Try to play with it and do compare what you have in the stock.
You have to search mono or 2channels-bridged amp. with rated (not maximal or peak)
500-800 RMS at 2Ohm load, with THD(harmonic distortion) less than 1 percent and sig/noise ratio more then 80db.
Cheap bridged amp could be unstable at 2ohm , better to seek mono.
From Boss Audio more appropriate is looking Boss Audio GT1500D. (Think it will be enough to make your neighbors to hate you.)
You could do not afraid clipping, but anyway you have to control out power.
With its 100db s/n you could confidently to lover input volume.

If you want a decent amp but don't want to break the bank such as the alpine pdx5. Have you looked at the fosgate punch line or the jbl line. Check out Jeff at Audio Heaven. He's not that pricey and will sure you give you a better amp than what future shop would offer you at the same price.

I think its great. Mind you this is my first car and my first sound system so I don't have anything to compare it to. I'm running a 12" JL High Output 12W3 - I think its 300RMS at 4ohms, out of a Kenwood DNX8120. It's got some kick to it for a single sub. And I still only have the stock speakers in. I'm in Toronto tomorrow if you wanna check it out - North York area. PMed you my number.

I had a 4 channel fostage for awhile in my truck (before everything got stolen) I always had trouble with 2 channels cutting in and out it was weird, but enough reason for me to consider different amps.

I also had a JL 12w3v2 and loved it :(
