I didn't know quite where to put this thread, thought it would fit best here.
Well, I just ordered new car audio, Hifonics Olimpia XXV 12" sub and matching Hifonics Brutus mono block amp, both running 3200 watts 1600 RMS. With the power of this system, I obviously have to upgrade the 8 guage I had wired for my 300 RMS setup, so I ordered a 2 guage kit with the sub/amp/cap.
When I had my other setup running, I obviously had the amp grounded to the floor in the trunk, to the body of the car, which is what I am doing when I receive the new equipment. The stock body ground, 8 guage I believe, to the battery was fine for the old setup but this system would overload that. So, I took the old 8 guage ground from my last amp, and basically doubled up the stock body ground wire to the battery.
My question is, will this create any negative affects for how the car drives? I got worried cause when I hooked it up I went to go for a drive, when I first fired the car it sort of half sputtered for a second or two, then acted normal. First time this has ever happened. Yes, I made sure all connections were triple checked before I fired it up. It all ran fine after that.
So is it completely safe to double up the body ground like I have?
