View Full Version : Noise from front end now. When will it end?
Now when I turn the steering wheel, there is a woosh coming from the front end. I hope the ball joints are not shot yet. Starting to lose faith in this car
I see your car with character.
Balls are usually dying silently and after big mileage.
On old 323 I replaced only after 220.000 KM
More like on steering pump or it's belt.
Check steering fluid level.
As I remember, you are under warranty.
This car is quite reliable although intricate.
Yes, it has been reliable, up to now that is :(

Hi Bean.
Does it happen immediately as soon as you turn the steering wheel, or does it happen only once you turn the steering wheel all the way, or close to all the way?
Hi
When I am turning a corner or pulling into a parking spot. My daughter heard it too.

i have a similar noise coming from the front passenger side when I turn the wheel. I dont hear it on the drivers side. The noise is more audible in damp conditions. Not sure what it is.
It is coming from the Passenger side on my car too.
Is this a new sound? Keep in mind that the electic pump is quite noisy.
Yes, I dont think its the pump. Sounds like a balljoint or something like it

I started to hear it earlier this year and also took it to the dealer but they could not find anything....I'll report it again when I go for my service next month.
I also get sort of rattle noise from the same area but strangely on in damp conditions. I can only hear that when Im driving slow in the parking lot or when driving slowly over small bumps. I reported this to the dealer and again they could not find anything wrong.

Hydro-electric assisted steering.
Do the dealers ever hear what we are complaining about?

sadly yes....i guess they probably think its not serious and dont want to open up things in the car and create more problems as they may not have the confindence of correcting the problem.
plus rattles are not easy to diagnose...can be time consuming.
Makes me really wonder why I got this car.....

Actually the car has been great apart from a few rattle related problems like the one I mentioned. So I do like it. Afterall its an economy car so I wouldnt expect it to be like the BMWs, Mercedes and the Audis
But could be better built
