View Full Version : Oakville Mazda Review

I had always intended on checking out Oakville Mazda's service, since a lot of people give it good reviews, but didn't have a chance since it was so "out of the way" for oil change appointments during the week.

So I was putting on my winter tires today (yes, a little early, but I'd rather put them on now, than get frost-bite putting them on next week or so). I was working my way to the last tire, when the key-insert for the Mazda locknut simply fell out. I tried to put it back on but it didn't work anymore - I think crappy tire might have used an impact wrench on it when I was repairing a flat.

Anyway, I called up MoT, Mazda of Mississauga, Ontario Mazda, and Westowne and got the run around or sketchy answers like "we'll have to torch off the nut, replace the whole hub". When I called up Oakville Mazda, I was greeted by the extremely helpful/friendly and familiar voice of Tiffany. Although she said she was booked up, she told me to come by anyway. I walked in, gave her my keys and information. Instead of asking me for my ownership papers, she walked out to the parking lot (in the rain!) and started jotting down my VIN and kms. She even called up someone in the building and asked them to bake a small batch of cookies for me! :D

Anyway, 45 minutes later, I had the locknuts removed, and I was on my way. Although I didn't get to actually eat any of the cookies (I smelled them baking though... Mmm...), I'd have to say that Tiffany and Oakville Mazda really went above and beyond on this one. Cookies!! :chuckle

I'm glad everything went well :)

Questions for Jason:

Since Erin Mills Mazda won't give me my free winter matts :complain, I'm probably going to get a couple of free oil changes instead. I don't wanna bring my car to Erin Mills, would Oakville accomodate me even the free oil change is given from Erin Mills? Also what kinda oil are you guys using for the MS3? I heard that dealers are using just regular conventional oil 5W-30. Shouldn't it be Full Synthetic?

Also I know theres a TSB for the rattle on the cowl/windshield, are you guys aware of this?

Thanks :)

The key-insert for my locknut also broke yesterday! I only have one winter wheel on!

Maybe I should drop by Oakville Mazda too.

The extras are from the dealership and not Mazda Canada, so I doubt you can use the free oil changes at another dealership. Erin Mill Mazda's service department has been good to me and they're around the corner from my house, until otherwise, I'll still be servicing there.

Although KenYork is correct, most dealers are not affiliated and will not recognize other dealers' coupons, we try to accommodate all of our customers. Call me or send me an email, and I'll make the necessary arrangements for your complimentary oil changes.

The MS3 typically uses conventional oil. Synthetic is definitely a better alternative, especially for higher revving engines, but there is an increased investment. We have both oil choices available for you.

Yes, we are aware of the TSB for cowl rattle and would be happy to take care of this for you.

If it's convenient, go to our new website at www.oakvillemazda.com and book your service appointment online. Let me know when you'd like to come in and I will follow-up with the Service Department.

I wouldn't say stupid, it was probably just a warning that it may cause a snowball effect of pm's if other members have it stipulated on their purchasing statement as well.

yepp I made sure it was on the purchase statement so the dealer would not try to say "we did not agree to this" over afterwards, but it turns out the dealer is horrible so I will rather make the long drive to Oakville mazda and have my services done there from now on, its worth the drive IMO,
there reputation is very solid, ive heard great things from them on TM3 and others in College

Took my 3 in for its first service and appointment on Oct. 22.

Booking the appointment was easy.
Once at the dealership I told them I had my own oil and this was noted on the work order, even asked if I had brought my own oil filter. She asked if I had any additional concerns: mentioned a rattle coming from the centre console area, especially when going over bumps and when cold-this was also noted. She also did a check for outstanding TSBs.

Got the car back within the time they mentioned (approx 45 mins-1 hour).

The service advisor (different person than the one who I initially spoke to) asked if I had brought my own oil because I was charged on the invoice for oil but that he had noticed the tech using Royal Purple. This was promptly corrected on the invoice and I was on my way. They were unable to duplicate or hear the rattle.

Will be back for my 16,000km service, maybe I'll be able to score some goodies:chuckle

Once I moved from Ottawa to GTA I started going to Oakville Mazda. The service was good, but I find that to get a service appointment is almost impossible. After the hassle with the appointments I decided to switch over to Erin Mills Mazda. They are able to drive me to Milton or Mississauga. Oakville Mazda said that's not possible :( In addition, I got a coupon booklet once I purchased my Mazda in Ottawa and Oakville Mazda said they won't honour it. Erin Mills Mazda management did. What's up with that?

When did all of this happen?

I've been living in Halton area since 2006. I'd say all this happened a year ago. I've tried to book appointments with Oakville Mazda, but they always managed to tell me that the closest date would be in a week or two. At that point I had enough and decided to try Erin Mills Mazda. My father also switched from Oakville Mazda to Erin Mills.

Oakville Mazda has changed a lot over the past year. I'm sure you wouldn't have those problems you've stated now.

Jason, the DP at Oakville Mazda would try to help you out as much as he possibly can.

Smartie,
I'm not sure when this happened, but we have gained a lot of feedback from our TM3 members and guests. Booking online is easy, and we are normally booking appointments next day. If you need to bring the car in the same day, give us a call and depending on what the problem is, we try to keep some spots open for emergencies.
As for the coupons, I'm not sure who you spoke to, but PM or email me with the coupons you'd like us to honour and I will definitely look at that for you. I haven't seen a coupon yet that we haven't taken.
As you can read by the posts, Oakville Mazda is dedicated to being the best. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Made the trip out to Oakville yesterday for my 24K service...Robin was very friendly when booking the appt, and Tiffany even remembered my car from the last and only time she dealt with me. Service was completed on time while I waited in the lounge, had a hot chocolate and watched some satellite TV...

Weather was shitty, so I didn't expect a car wash, and Tiffany was nice enough to bring it up that they didn't wash it...we joked how it would've been wasted effort given the weather...also, get your TM3 decals guys, worth every penny!

Considering how the dealership close to where I live has left a bad taste in my mouth, Oakville Mazda has delivered the kind of dealership service experience I would expect: friendly, efficient and customer-focused. Next time, I'll bring my laptop... =)

Typing this from the waiting area at Oakville while my 3 is in for an oil change.. free wireless FTW!

Called today to book and appointment for next week, but they had some time available today so now I'm here:chuckle

Along with the oil chaange I did mention the cowl/dash rattle while booking my appointment with Robin over the phone and again upon my arrival here. They will check it out and let me know.

I'll update or edit my post when I get back.

Did they fix the dash/cowl rattle?

The rattling sound is much more apparent when its cold, I didn't hear it at all today and they could not replicate the noise today with it being almost 10 degrees when I was there this afternoon. They also mentioned that the rattle was more common with the Speed 3s versus the regular 3s.

The tech took it out for a test drive and found the noise coming from the centre vent area and that was fixed. Also went on a test drive with the tech to try and locate another noise but ended up finding a different one, which they noted and will take care of.

All in all, I was quite pleased with the service at Oakville today:bana. Robin was very helpful in arranging a test drive with the tech to try and locate the where the noise was coming from. The tech also updated Robin after the test drive as to what he heard, and this was noted.

td;lr: Great service, will be back @ 24,000kms.

I took my car in yesterday to get some work done:

MazdaSpeed exhaust and valance added, door sills replaced, fog light kit conversion to 6000K HIDs, headlights upgraded to 6000K HIDs, add an OEM front lip, and swap my winters for summers.

I am extremely pleased with the work done.

Tiffany was friendly and cheery as usual, Andrew helpful as always (and so sultry with that low understated voice of his... Just kidding! I'm not gay!), Jason even popped in and chatted with me for a bit (And no Jason, that was not my wife, she was a friend. You seemed confused. Lol!).

Everybody was great.

I was worried that something was going to go wrong and that I would have to freak out about something, as was the case with a few other dealers I am no longer visiting. But I have to tell you all went well!

Great bunch of people, great techs, great atmosphere...

Very pleased and I am sure you would be too!

So if you haven't gone to see them yet, what are you waiting for?
And don't give me "oh they are so far away!" - nonesense I say!
Jason even offered to swap cars with me when I needed any work done.

I drove almost 22 km's when I have 2 dealerships within 10 km's of my place.

I like how I am treated there and how my car is treated!

And big props to Andrew! Thanks for working with me for the last 2 weeks to get this all done at once.

Let me know your experience!

My third service visit to Oakville Mazda was for the 48,000 km interval. The first two visits I had the only oil and filter changed. This time I had the full service completed, except for changing the air filter.

Robin, as always, greeted me with a smile and had my car taken into the car wash bay right away (because the car washer's shift was ending soon).

Now I had forgotten to remove my Vibrant strut bar before bringing in the car. Robin thoughtfully called to inform me that the tech may charge extra time for removing the bar to check the air filter. She suggested I skip it to avoid the possible cost and possible damage to the strut bar. I'll make sure to remove the strut bar so the air filter can be changed at the next appointment.

The service was completed in 1.5 hours or so. It cost about $200 with the TM3 discount. In comparison, when I had the 24,000 km full service completed at Erin Mills it took almost six hours and cost about $330! I didn't even have a strut bar then.

Even though I live in Etobicoke I will absolutely continue to have my 3's maintenance completed at Oakville Mazda.

I took my car in for my 24000km service last Friday. I forgot to bring my own synthetic oil but Nelson got me a TM3 discount on the oil which I appreciate. Nelson came out with me, did a walkaround on my car and explained the work that would be done. He was very professional and polite. He estimated that the service would take about 2 hours and they were pretty close: the car wash took a bit longer but my car got washed so I didn't care.

However, after I got my car back I noticed a small ding on the driver's door. Now, accidents happen and it was just a small nick (a half cresent shape the size of a quarter) so I didn't make a big fuss. I took a deep breath, walked back in and explained the situation to Nelson. He came out, took a look and agreed that the ding wasn't there during his initial exam. This surprised me as I was expecting to have to argue for a while before they would fix it. I was very impressed with this behaviour (I've had some bad experiences at other dealerships). He and Robin immediately set up another appointment to get the ding fixed free of charge and even touched up two small nicks on the driver's door that had been bugging me (also for free). The nick is now gone, and I can't even tell where it was before.

I am very impressed with this dealership. Oakville takes care of their customers. Definitely worth the drive from Scarborough (at least for major services).

There are so many Oakville Mazda review threads, I decided to write my review in this one this time around.

This afternoon at 3pm, I went into Oakville Mazda for my 16month/32km service (it was my 3rd service done at Oakville Mazda).

Nelson greeted me as he always does and immediately we go outside to do the pre-service perimeter inspection (this was new to me as I've never had this done before with any service with any car I've taken in to any service place). I was pleasantly surprised with this being done.

We go back inside and he explains to me what service techs would be doing on my car. I had declined for the tire rotation since I recently had my summer tires put on the car, which he was happy to say ok to.

The printer started malfunctioning, so he suggested that I go to the wait area until it's been rectified and that he'd take care of the paperwork for me. At this point (since it's my 3rd time dealing with him), I trusted him to do that.

After maybe 5mins, I remembered that last time I had my service, they suggested that I have my windshield wipers replace, to which I declined at the time. I went back to the service desk to ask him how much it would be to replace the stock wipers with the Reflex wipers I had sitting in my trunk. Nelson simply says to me that he won't charge me for it. Sweet! I thanked him of course, and I signed my work order for the service.

After maybe half hour my car was finished and Nelson came out to get me in the service area, but asked if I had time on my hands because if I did, they'd wash the car for me as well (this was also a first for me). So I tell him that I have lots of time so they can go ahead and wash my car for me as well.

All in all, the service with the wash took an hour, and I was GREATLY impressed with the customer service that Nelson and the service department gave me.

Jason, Tiffany, and Nelson, I have to give props to you three for continuing to make my experience at Oakville Mazda "Positively Different"!!

I went to Oakville Mazda yesterday to have an oil change and my tires rotated.

Great service.

I want to thank Tiffany (Service Manager) for putting up with me. She is always so pleasant and willing to entertain and chat.

Nelson, love talking to him. I think Nelson has some sort of homing beckon on my car because as soon as I pulled into the lot and parked he was already out there getting my mileage reading! He must be psychic!
Robin is so sweet and helpful.
Lars, technician, does a great job. He is always so calm and quiet.

They actually seem to car for your vehicle.

Didn't find any new scratches or dents which is what most people worry about when they take their cars in for service, I am one of those people.

I forgot my lock nut key and Jason (Dealer Principle) was kind enough to drop it by my place!

Awesome service, awesome people.

I recommend that if you are not already going there for service, you should at least try them once soon and let me know how your experience was.

Too bad Andrew was off, otherwise I would be back looking at wheels for my ride. Maybe a good thing he wasn't in!

Everyone has to go and try them out.

Oh and don't forget, they bake fresh cookies for you while you wait!!

No joke.

Thanks again Oakville Mazda.

Yup. I was just in for my 40,000km service. Was told there was a small leak in the oil pan and needed to be fixed under warranty so brought it in a couple days later. Fixed no issues. Was also told that some time shortly I would have to look at the cabin filter and I believe it was an auto-tranny flush as it was starting to discolour.

So far, really pleased. Very informative. Jason and Tiffany say hi and talk for a bit when they notice me. Even remember stuff about my car!

Been away from the forums for a while with the new house and more work but I figured an update was in order.

Took the car in for an oil change and brake service along with front end clunking. Service was done along with a test drive with Tiffany to confirm/replicate clunking which was done. No complaints, great service.

Went back again today for scheduled oil change and front end clunking again. Initially could not replicate noise but after a test drive with the tech, this was done and it looks like it might be a strut mount. Will be returning next week to get it taken care of, could have been done today but I to be somewhere this afternoon. As usual free wifi and cookies along with great service.

Cheers

What kind of clunking sound did you hear? Did it sound like a diesel engine? when idle?

Not engine related at all. The front end would clunk when going over speed bumps or potholes or onto steep driveways.
