View Full Version : Noise at low RPM acceleration

When I accelerate at low RPMs, there is a sound coming out from the right side of the car (not driver side), sound like a timing belt noise, but not that loud. Does the MZ3 has some kind of belts that can cause this? I thought we have chains not belts.... My car is 3 yrs old, 41K KM.

Not sure if it helps, but this stareted a few days ago, when it got colder outside. The noise doesn't go away when the engine is warm...

Thanks!

No timing belt, but there are belts for the altenator, A/C etc. Might be a bearing for one of the pulleys going.

not to bring back this thread back from the dead. but is this considered to be normal? I think i'm getting similar issue, just that when i go from 60 to 75km/hr, i get some really weird squeaking noise from the front right as well.

i think this just started happening today

probably the tensioner issue.

both mine and the gfs make noise when cold at first start up. some moisture on the belts i would think as both tensioners are operating with out failure. . once its warm and sits for a while during the day its fine. its the over night and cold that goes hand in hand i would think that does it. only in the winters and never in the summer.

In my case it doesn't go away when its warm, I drove yesterday 84 km ( which is my daily drive from home to work ) and it still did it, today did it too, :(

I've been having the same issue since summer...when it was hot, now it is more noticeable...should this be something I should take it into the dealership to check it out?

I had the same issue, i took it to my dealer and they found the tension pulley rusted and the serpentine belt worn so they replaced them both under warranty, i have the 2010 model. I think there is a general issue with the pulley, since most owners are reporting this problem

yes i remember i did check you in, and from the tech notes it seems there was a trim screw missing, what i think we need to do is at some point when you are in the area have you return for a road test with the technician, i did drive the vehicle with him and i couldnt hear any abnormal noises.

so let me know if there is a day you may be in the area as to not inconvenience you.

not alone guys:

also, i tried a belt dressing spray and the noise was gone for 3 days, so its deff a belt issue...hope its not a transmission issue
