I have a 2006 Sport with a 5spd ATX and for the past 2 days, I have this strange tranny behavior:
When launching and keeping the revs above 3000RPM from a stop in full automatic mode, the car engages 1st gear and accelerates fine but when the indicator in the dash indicates "2", the car seems to stay in "1" and the revs goes to 4000RPM and THEN it shifts proprely into 2nd. All this in a time frame of approx. 1.5 to 2seconds. And the funny thing is that although the shift is delayed and shifted at high RPM, the shift are still smooth. So I immediately rule out the shift-shock problem.
I only have 17800km and the car is only 2.5 years old. Comments ?

mine does the same, dealer said everything is ok, fliud clean, and proper fliud level..05 4 spd auto...
It does that when its cold out. Does it only happen when the car is cold or all the time?

When the car is at full operating temp. and the outside air is cold. Mmm, that reminds me, I still have my MS CAI on my car and the temp. outside when the symptoms occur was 3-4 Celsius.
I was told by a friend who worked at the dealer and this may occur when you have a CAI and cold outside temps...
All MZ3s with automatics have this issue, when its cold out. I just take it easier until I've been driving around for a while. Although your issues seem a bit more predominant. I would go to the dealer and make sure you have the CPU flash that redoes the shift mapping.

Ok thanks 3GFX. Btw, do I need to switch back to the OEM intake ? I hoping that the dealer won't give me the finger if I go to the dealer with my MS CAI..:blush
MS brand shouldn't be an issue. I've gone in with the intake and exhaust to 4 different dealers and none have ever given me a hard time. (Each dealer, just because of scheduling or location convenience)

small update: I went to the dealer for an oil change and they reflashed the tranny module. Also, the tech took a drive test after the reflash and he said to me that both front rotors are slightly warped ( when he braked the steering wobbles. yikes!) and he took care of it.
So in the end, I only pay 45$ for the oil change. The reflash and rotors are under warranty :bana :chuckle

I feel a slight wobble when I brake too... does this mean my rotors are also warped? I don't drive this car really hard and just had it barely a year.

If you're under warranty and you did the brake maintenance (I did the 12 month and 24 month), it SHOULD be covered. :)
