I remember the salesperson told me that a 2008.5 Mazda 3 Sport GT comes with Leather wrapped shift knob.... I have a MT.... but it doesn't look anything like leather to me...
so if anyone has a stock Leather wrapped shift knob MT... what does yours look like?!

Shit, if I made $500 selling a car, I'd tell you it was leather too! lol
Tip of the day, a car salesman, lives on bullshit. With the exception of probably 12 accross North America.

I dont think they make 500 for them selves, iam pretty sure they make 500 for the dealer per car, For the civic si the profit that the dealer was making on it was around 500, dealer profit not sales person profit, there selling a mazda 4 for max 30 grand , its not a 70k bemmer , but yea most sales people bs about things, I was told that my car had tire preasure gauge ... but it doesent? also 160 hp which is actually 156... weird

I think only the US models have the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). Not sure if that is going to become a law here in Canada like it is in the US where you are required to have TPMS on all model years since 2007 (if I'm not mistaken).
As for the leather wrapped shift knob, never heard of it as standard equipment!

It was standard on some of the earlier models....... that's where I got mine (for my Protege5 at the time) and then swapped it out on my '07 when I picked it up.

you're right, sorry didn't see that. Your best bet is to ask The Biz about it, he is the resident guru on all things related to options on a Mazda3!!!

To be honest, I don't think any of them have, or will... You definately do get a leather shift BOOT. Maybe the salesman was telling you about that, and there was some mis-communication. or MORE LIKELY, he spoke about it in a vague way so as to make you believe you were getting a leather shift knob, but he has an out if you try to call him on it...
Either way, in my books be glad the knob isn't leather.. it would just fade and wear from the constant use, rubbing and oils from your skin. Even faster than a leather steering wheel, a shift-knob will deteriorate very quickly (in my opinion)..

Would it be beneficial to get a weighted shift knob?

As one of Jeff's (many) clients, I can say that he is the antithesis to the car-salesperson stereotype. They may be out there, but Jeff is definitely not one of them!!

The orignial shift boot on my '08 is definitely vinyl......

My '06 Sport GT had a round leather knob with the 5spd engraved on the metal piece on the middle with a chrome neck too. When my lease ended and got an 08.5 I asked to have the tall, plastic-looking one to be swapped.

don't worry Jeff... we all know that you are one of the 12...
but really... what do you think about the Leather wrapped shift knob???
the boot is not leather either... I know what leather feels like....
now.. even the pdf from Mazda website says it's leather... if it's fact Mazda's fault, I think Mazda should do something about it....

Leather wrapped knobs came with the luxury package which includes the leather wrapped steering wheel and leather seats. This is on the 07 btw. I confirmed that the shift knob is indeed leather wrapped when I took mine off to replace it with my vibrant shift knob. You can clearly see the leather from the bottom.
