Hello all. My friend has a 2004 3 GT.

She's having some kind of a noise with the car, and she says her estimate says something about a "intake manifold runner valve".

Don't know if the terminology is correct, but does anybody know what this means? Does it necessitate a manifold change, or are these valves serviceable and/or repairable? Aftermarket solutions? What is the impact if it isn't addressed?

I'm just asking, because the repair quote is steep ($1400 or so).

Thanks. I don't know much about these cars, so bear with me!

The runner valve is inside the manifold and is probably not interchangeable; meaning they'd have to change out the complete intake manifold.
What is the mileage on the vehicle? The intake manifold is covered to 100k or 5 years (hopefully she's within that period)...
If she's not covered, I'd get a second opinion on the problem before shelling out all that kind of cash......could be one of the actuator valves which are the problem and located outside the manifold, which is a much cheaper fix.

Good luck!
