My car:
2005 Mazda 3 GT/GFX

Problem:

Everytime I turn the steering wheel to the left, I get a low frequency humming noise. This only happens when I'm moving and not at a stand still. At first I thought it was my tires being worn but i changed to winter tires and same noise but a little louder (as would be expected). My car has 89K on it so its out of warranty.

Any ideas? I had Pirelli Zero Neros b4 the winters that i just put on and that made the same noise and they have decent tread left on them.

Thanks

i dont think this is because of ur tires, iam no expert but I think its the power steering that you are hearing. the humm or wizzz sound for me is the power steering, should not be a problem

I don't think it has to do with the power steering. It only started making this about a month ago. Also, if i try turning the wheel while parked, no noise. The buzzing sound gets louder the faster i go ... maybe it has to do with the wheel bearings ... don't know ...

Yeah, the wheel bearing is where I think its at too. Just curious, can any garage do this or do i need to have Mazda fix this ... it is out of warranty now anyways.
