View Full Version : Hard or soft winter tire for mostly highway driving???

hi guys,
i'm in dilemma here. i drive mostly on highways, so should i go with HARD or SOFT winter tire. i've talked to 2 ppl, one said hard another one said soft.
and sorry if someone posted similar thread b4. i searched couldn't find one, so created a new thread.

If you mean sidewalls - go firm - soft ones will feel sloppy and you will tend to feel crosswinds pushing the car more IMO

Go with the harder tire for mostly hi-way definately.The softer snow tire will have a tendency to run hot or overheat at constant hiway speeds, therefore wearing much quicker....I have the Viking Snowtechs, they are awesome on the hiway but the Semperits would be a better choice as an example.Talk to Allen at Simply Tire he'll set you up.

I think it depends on the type of conditions the roads are in. If the highways are mostly snow covered and has patches of ice/ black ice, then i would go soft as in a dual compound tread.
