Anyone else had/has this problem, when your going from 1 to 20 kms/h does your motor forces like something is holding it and then it releases around 20 ???
I love my car and im kinda scared if it something extremely important that should be repaired asap...
thanks

Is your car modded? Auto or manual?

Auto? I have no idea. Manual I would give some suggestions. I'm sure some folks with auto will pipe in.

Are you already rolling or stopped?

Maybe your handbrake cable seized up. Get that checked.

I don't think it's the handbrake seeing as it "releases" at 20km/h...
I believe the problem you are describing is perfectly normal for automatic transmissions. During slow accelerations, the car feels like it jumps forward while upshifting into second gear. I assume this is because the higher revs in first gear cause more engine braking than it does in second.

YEAH!! i have the same issue! ... it's been happening for a while now ..... but i thought it was because my mom messed up the auto transmission since she was driving it regularly for the first 3 years ... i have a 2004 2.3L GT sedan auto
anyways, what happens after a stop (usually soon after the car's been started up), is that the revs build up higher than normal in 2nd gear (i.e. ~4000 rpm) before switching to third ...this only happens between these 2 gears....and if i shift "manually" this doesn't happen.... this tends to go away after the car's been running for 15 minutes
anyone know what's up? is that the same thing that happens to your car battle?

Has your software for the ECU been flashed with the latest version? It was part of a TSB.

It has been years since I had an auto car and those I had were all 1970's American stuff with 3 speed slushboxes. So I can't offer much help with these new-fangled computer assisted automatics. That said, the simple stuff is always a good place to start - maybe it is time to check and/or change the transmission fluid.

i talked to a guy at a garage and he says it could be my filter that does not let air pass during the 1st kms/h...
i dont know :S

If left in auto mode, the 2nd gear does come on quick if you are using a light foot and it will feel like a slug if you try to give it gas at around 20km.
I've had times where it goes into 2nd at low speed and will not shift back up to 1st, even if I put the pedal to the floor. Feels like you are towing a boat.
If this is a something new, maybe it's time for a checkup. How many kms are on your car?

Given the age of your car I don't know if it would apply. They did it to mine (2006 Auto TX) my very first maintenance work.

I think I know what you are talking about. I may have had the same issue but it was resolved pretty quickly without a cent coming from my pocket. I'm assuming this happens to you when it is cold. There is a harsh jolt from 1st to 2nd, when the gears are engaging. Bring it in for service to a "Mazda" mechanic. It is probably a computer glitch that the '04's have (ECU issue). Cardinal probably has a better explanation on this than me. LOL!
