well he said "next gen" so they are probably designs for the 2010 model.

I don't know... that one on the bottom (which looks similar to the new design of the M3 but without those teardrop cutouts) almost looks a bit better in my opinion...

I think that's it too the one being covered in the picture right at the bottom. Probably was a frontrunner for the design then since they actually built a functioning car.

wow, the "sedan-r" sketch looks amazing from the side view!! Not crazy about the front view but still very aggressive and more importantly very unique.

I think this design had way more balls than what they actually came up with. Too bad that they opted for the safer route...guess they didn't want to mess around too much with a successful product.

lol that makes sense it resembles the save shape as the version they released:)

That's the one I'm talking about. I love the side view and I'm pretty sure that is it getting covered in the bottom pic. Go check out that link though if you haven't already, there's one picture of the interior which looks like the 2010 interior only they designed the steering wheel like a racecar wheel with a cutout. Kinda creepy....

I would have voted for sedan - A even though it looks like a Civic.

But the side profile of sedan - B looks more aggressive with the sharper lines on the bumpers and trunk. Kinda like a Volvo S40?

I just noticed too, sedan B has a sharkfin incorporated into the picture... maybe Mazda considered making this standard on the 2010 model?

The car in the link in that thread looks nothing like the actual 2010 Mazda 3. At least the one posted here has some resemblance to the actual car they designed and built. Mazda was super secretive about the designs of their 2010 model and only released it about a month ago. Not even.

Actually looking at the pictures on that site I think those are actually the 2019 concept of the Mazda 3 as rendered by that girl.

This was believed to be the 2018 concept.

The reason why I put the "link in that thread that looks nothing like the actual 2010 mazda 3" is because it was it was another "2nd generation mazda3 concept that didn't make it", which was the title of this thread.

For those interested, more concepts that didn't make it (links added to thread for completeness:)):

Yeah sorry, my mistake. But I guess they really went to all angles to redesign this Mazda3 for the '10 year. The link you posted looks nothing like the actual car or any of the concepts in this thread.

That one I think someone just designed randomly. I don't think that was an official Mazda rendering.

Ooohh that sedan-R.. I surely would have waited for that one instead of buying my '09.. But seeing that I didn't make the cut.. I'm glad I choose the current model.

I agree! The new one looks so hideous. The car they are covering on the bottom of the page. Now that looks like a car worthy of the second gen Mazda3 name.
