Hey guys,

I just installed my Prolumen HID kit last night. The bulbs fit snug in the clip, but i'm sure i'm not doing it the right way..

So i've got some questions hopefully someone knows the answers so that i can re fit my bulbs lol..

1. Does the H7 Clip actaully clip into the housing? or to the metal plate that is screwed into the housing? (look at the follwoing pic, it seems the clip is locked with the metal plate where the screws are located) http://www.imazda.com/mazdaracer/Mazda3/HID/HID22.jpg
Note: that is not my pic, it was takin from an install guide on imazda.com

My clip is actaully holding on to the plastic ring inside the housing :/

2. When the kit says spacers are included, that only refers to the plastic part correct? I can dispose of the foam? (currently im not using foam, i'm just using the plastic cspacer thing, that has little legs on it.

3. Do you guys keep your light switch to auto? I've got a 2008.5 GS Sedan. i did not use a relay, nor did i change any fuses, do i need to change fuses?

That's it for now thanks :p

I did search through many theards here and on M3F... so please don't flame :)

1. It gets clipped behind the "metal plate" thing. If it doesn't the bulb will be sitting loose.

2. Correct. The foam is garbage. The only spacer you will use is the plastic one with the little legs (as you call them) on it that is attached to the bulb wiring.

3. You can leave them on auto but I wouldn't recommend it. I find that when starting the car when it's dark (at night or in an underground lot) they are under strain. I usually fire them up after I start the car. Same goes for my HID fogs. Personally it's up to you. The auto feature is much more convenient though.

I thought so! the funny thing is.. i know for a fact mine are not "properly" clipped behind the metal clip... but the bulbs are sitting tight.. i can;t even move them!

guess i'll have to re fit them tomorrow after work.. thanks cwp! Those clips are a b*** would be so much easier if it was simple twist and lock ! lol

i've been keeping them on auto so far.. might have to get in the habit again of switching on the lights lol

Forgive my stupidity,

I guess i'm more cognicent of things after i put in my HIDs lol

question, since we have DRL should they be on all the time?

I have my light switch set to auto, its fairly bright outside so of course my dash does not light up, nor do my hid's come on, but should the DRL still be on? Mine were off :/

My sister has an '08 and she was asking me if her DRL were broken cause she never saw the lights against the wall in her garage. Turns out the DRLs only came on when the car was put into gear.

i'll have to get someone to make sure they do turn on lol

Thanks Queens49

As stupid as my questions maybe.. I'm slowly learning lol:bana

Correct. With the e-brake up the DRLs will not come on. :)

so... if the brake is down but the car is in park... the lights should come on? :D

haha i'm stuck in my office so i can't check.. but i NEEED to know lol..

It's funny how you (well me atleast) dont pay attention to things like this, and then when you wonder about it... you dont know the answers

Yes, they "should" lol. If they don't you may have a problem.

:)

I have my DRL fuse pulled so I don't have any lights come on when I start my car. So you would really be confused if you were comparing the 2. I manually turn on my fogs every time as my DRLs.

Since you have a 2007+ you can just hook up the HIDs and don't have to worry about the DRLs since they have been moved to the high beams. :)

Nope. You only need to disable the DRLs or use that anti-flicker cable thing if your DRLs are run using your low beams. :)

I have an '07 and my stock lighting setup it like your car. High beams = DRLs. I disabled the high beam DRLs and now run my fog lights as my DRLs instead. I think it would look weird to have stock DRLs and fogs on at the same time that's all.

No problem. :)

lol...I still don't think you get it. You won't need that anti-flicker unit on your year.

Yeah, first hand experience is always good. The way your car is wired you would never want your HIDs to be your DRLs. Everyone who has them like that wants to change to the '07+ setup because it's more of a pain to run HIDs for them.

It does take some electrical knowledge as well as some car knowledge. If you aren't sure I would make sure you get someone experienced to either help you or do it for you.

Sorry to detract from the current discussion..

BUT! i went home last night and spent 4 hours in my underground garage trying to properly clip in my Prolumen HID bulbs!!! What a hassle the damn things still did not clip in!!

I know how the clip works now.. i pulled outt he HIDS and put the stock bulbs in and the clip popped in no problems at all.

When i try to place the HID's in it's a whole new ball game, all the pressure in the world and ther damn clip never clicked into place..

I have a feeling the spacers on my HID's are just a few mm or so bigger, or in other words just not perfectly built..

I will be removing the bumper on the weekend maybe then i can have some more leverage with my arm and force those damn buggers in..

Anyone else have ideas? I saw an article (forget which forum, but the guy actually sanded down the legs on his spacers.. should i be doing that? I'm seriously convinced its a quality issue:bang

I found the same thing when I installed my HIDs. The depth of the spacers was not a problem but the diameter was just slightly bigger than the OE halogen bulb/spacer assembly. I had to bend the clips a millimeter or two so they would wrap around the HID bulb/spacer and clip properly. They just snapped into place with that little tweak.

Hey what do u guys think about this its also 190 from rick at garage 16

Standard and HID lighting products are located here. The light produced by an HID Xenon lighting system is greater than that of a standard halogen bulb, with less power consumption. On the road, HID Xenon lighting systems appear as a bright white beam which resembles natural daylight

They do BOTH high and low beam and come in 6k or 8k

So really irs 2 HID kits in 1
