Hi there. My stock Toyo Proxes need replacing. Will moving up from the stock 195/65/15 to 215/60/15 be okay?

The online calculator says that the speedo will only be 0.7% off...but will they fit on the stock wheel? Any rubbing issues? Thanks guys.

Should be fine as long as you don't go over 1%.

I had 235/45R17 size tires on my car with minor rubbing but i am lowered. Strangley enough my speedo was never more accurate then with that tire size lol

Thanks for your response guys. I was told on another forum that a 215/60/15 tire would not fit on the stock 15" x 6" wheel because it's too wide. Do you guys agree?

If you're on a GX, you can go up to the stock size on a GS which is 205/55/16

too wide.

it would look ridiculous.

Just stay in the stock size.

With how common a 195/65/15 is, you can find a lot of great tires, reasonably priced. I would stick with the stock size unless there is a compeling reason not to.

I agree. Unless you really need the extra dry traction a bigger tire will provide it makes a lot of sense to stick with 195/65R15s. Replacement tires are plentiful and relatively inexpensive, as midnightfxgt says. As an added bonus the narrower tire will yield slightly better fuel mileage.

That said, if you just want the look of a wider tire that is a perfectly valid reason to upgrade. I cannot imagine there will be any problems with rubbing as lots of people fit 225/45R17s, even with lowering springs. Personally, I'd go with 215/55R16s to keep a little sidewall for real world driving conditions.

I would rather have better traction over fuel mileage just as a side note :P
