View Full Version : Another week, Another problem with the car
Now the whole dashboard creaks and rattles. It started on the plastic part under the left side vent (Closest to the window) and also a noise from the front end when I turn the steering wheel.
Always after the car is in for service, something happens. Why??
Fed up and so frustrated with this Japanese lemon:flaming

It's colder now. You are going to get creaks and ticks all over the place no matter what car you have. I have the same thing. I do hate the noises but I have gotten used to them.

parcel shelf?
Plastic shelf behind the rear seats. I wish it was not plastic.

Had the cover rear hatch cover making noise a few weeks back and noticed that the latch close to the rear seat wasn't pushed in fully after I had put it back in place after removing it.

seems like ur car is one of those few lemons as well , mines got similar issues with the cold, what can you do? dealers dont do shit and not all of us have pockets down to the floor to get it fixed our selves
Yes. They happily take your money but thats where it ends it seems.

you have to understand though iuts plastic in winter it will get hard and unflexible and cause alot of noises that were not there in the summer. I have yet to do something about mine but w/e it is you do do not use spray foam that is a big no no. i used it for the longest time and it worked amazing but 1 year later the foam seperated from the plastic from all the flexing or warping shall i say. Upon removal i ripped my parcel shelf in half LOL. It was a hefty replacement bill lol
My car makes alot of noise in the summer too.:flaming

the only noise i get is my parcel shelf when the bass hits HARD haha but other then that i have done small things to quieten down the noises such as sound dead and stuff like that not the cheapest method but it works
Lately, I have found the sound from the speakers to be muted, or not as good as they used to be. Maybe I am getting deaf in my old age.

I find that odd!, but your not the first person I've heard complain about creaks and rattles...I find it odd because after 3 1/2 years and 90k on the odo, my 3 is completely void of any noises and my sound system pumps pretty well and I like it loud most of the time:chuckle
I wonder if maybe you might consider in the spring, dismantling your interior completely, tightening any exposed bolts, nuts etc; then see what happens!
....this is one thing I plan on doing myself, when I go to replace my carpet with the help of my bud McGuyver..., Dan of course is quite experienced in that area :chuckle.

WOW!!! Either you are lucky or the day your car was built, someone was happy

I do not plan to have the car anymore by the time spring comes around. That, unfortunately, is not because I want it this way :(

FWIW...
1/4" foam weather stripping works well to stop sqeaks. It compresses down to almost nothing, but keeps panels from rubbing against their attachement points etc.

Home Depot or Rona or Lowes in the weather-strip section. Heck even Cdn Tire has it! Comes in a roll in a bunch of widths and thicknessess. The stuff I have open-cell foam, 1/4" thick by (I think 3/8") wide.
I used the same stuff when I upgraded my speakers... ran a strip around the edge of the hole before mounting the speakers to prevent any plastic-metal buzzing.
I guess since I own a house it nevered occurs to me that people would not know about this stuff; here's part of my collection:

The title of this thread is EXACTLY how I feel about my Mazda... never again. Tack that up to poor dealer service for the most part.
