Greetings.

Had this idle pinging noise checked today at Mazda today. I'm looking for any advise/ suggestions. So the Tech indicated it was a bad intake Manifold that is causing the noise. They indicated that the whole unit will need to be replaced and provided me a quote.

I did not get the work done at this time. However I did some checking. It appears that this intake manifold is covered under the Distributor Powertrain Limited warranty as I read in warranty book. I am trying to determine if this maybe true. Is my car still cover on a bad intake manifold. Again its a 2004 Mazda 3 with 96,600km

I called he Service Supervisor and asked him this questions as well. He said he would call me back. Still waiting...

If you have any information/ advise on this .. it will be totally appreciated.
Thanks
Anthony

just shows not to trust any dealer, any manufactures. Always get a second opinion and ask questions. I guess dealer still think that owners still have no clue and are stupid.

I just moved to Ottawa and took it to the dealership here. I basically had them do a diagnotic on the noise it was making and they (the tech) told me it was from the intake manifold. The only way to fix it was to replace it and they quoted me a price.

After I did some digging I found out that the intake is covered for 5 years and 100,000km. So speaking to the service manager they set me up to have it replaced under warranty.

So in your case. You need to find a way to confim that your noise is due to a bad intake manifold. I think I saw a post here or online some place on how to do that.

All the best and good luck

It depends on the temps and other factors etc; it's quite normal...mine will rev only for a moment to 1800rpm then drop to 1100rpm, then eventually settle at 1000, that's when I know she's good to go.
