I lost my USB stick

Well.. I lost my USB stick... not a big deal right?

Until i realized i didnt have half the things on my USB backed up..

I've lost 6 years worth of university assignments, 2 years of pictures, all my resumes, and god knows how many assignments that i did back in high school :bang

I had it sunday night, and have searched the whole house, no sign of the sitck.. I was out monday morning and as i cant recall where i put the stick, it's possible i dropped it while i was out :(

I haven't been able to concentrate at all at work because im so worried about finding the damn thing..

sigh...

moral of the story: Back up your data... or end up like me:AH

On a side note, my USB key is about the size of my finger nail (no joke) and I'm always afriad of misplacing it.

Loosing all the pictures is probably the worst, I hope it turns up.

Some suggestions, since I can sense your frustration::)

I know this may sound completely random, but have you tried checking:

?Your briefcase/wallet/knapsack/(change)purse/etc-type-thing (if you have one)
?Your usb drives at work and all your home computers (including laptops, televisions)
?Oh, and between the seat and your door in your 3. My cars have a very bad habit of taking stuff from me and hiding them there. :complain:loco And don't just look. Really check underneath and around the area.
?Also, not just between the seat and the door, but between the seats themselves, like between the part where your back goes and the part where you sit.
?Ashtray
?Mailbox. If you dropped it on your driveway, someone may have picked it up and put it there for you.
?Coat/pant/shirt/boxer and/or brief/etc. pockets. I am sure you have done this a few times, but maybe you somehow missed it since it is so small. Doesn't hurt to try again, right? (I have known people that lost their keys, only to find them in the one jacket they never happened to check, which happened to be lying in the middle of nowhere.:whoa)
?Oh, and socks.
?Laundry baskets too.
?Inside your shoes.
?I know you said you looked through the whole house, but have you tried the washroom? You never know, right?

Ick I've done that too. But luckily I found mine in the snow. And it still worked.

Mine is also one you wear around the neck. I know totally bling right. So that was fun. I think I was moving out of a place and the friction of the box against my chest caused it to shimmy out.

I don't know if your USB key is hooked to my keychain like mine is... but a lot of the times, the "rope" will break as it did with mine and it mighta just fell out somewhere, especially if u have a habit of playing with your keys...

it was a lanyard type, that goes around your neck. Of course i would never put it around my neck, always stayed in the office bag.. just pulled it out THIS ONE DAY! and boom i lost it..

I think i've pretty much checked all the areas you listed haha

I did search the cars, no luck.. I'll have a look again maybe i missed something.

I'm gonna assume it's gone for good, although i will keep looking hopefully it turns up :(

Wait until you lose one with a really important university paper due and it's only saved on there.

I learned my lesson:
-one copy on USB stick
- one to computer hard drive
- one to my email (if printing elsewhere but home)
